I put my heart
in a carefully preserved place
Covered in steel
put in a safe
locked in a cell
in the middle of the Earth

But then an adventurer came
he journeyed to the center of the Earth
went to that prison
and unlocked the door.
Slowly my heart became more open.

He cracked the safe
then slowly began
chipping away the steel
Then he leaves
leaving my heart open and
vulnerable

So it weeps now, for
the steel, the safe, and the prison
it took so long to build
and
the adventurer
the one who finally did
open it up
and
the ones who came before him
trying so hard to make
the heart open to them
yet failed to do so
