stop

breathe

recognize the leaves
of the trees
falling in patterns
on the ground
we cannot recreate

notice the hum
of the street cars
and people frolicking
to and from bars

wrapping themselves
in sweaters
trying to handle
the change in weather

a tune to hum while
dancing in the fall
skipping steps that
matter more than
anything at all

stop
