Market Street
At midnight, I sit and walk through the dark
Empty hull in place of a heart
Pushing through the unlit street
Tired, yes, but keeping light on my feet
"It's nothing more," I say, "Just a small bump"
Just a hop, skip, and a 5 mile jump
Checking my back every five seconds or so
So no one sees where I'm trying to go
When all hope is lost, I sent for you
Screaming through the ghetto "I loved you too!"
All along Harbor Drive, I see the light
With newfound energy, I make a right
I see the planes, and I feel new hope
Laughing and giggling, as my new way to cope
I catch a final cab to take me the final stretch
It was a waste, but the last part's a *****
I walk in, limping and tired
Waiting an hour for my soul's final desire
It's not you, but it's the next best thing
I really hope I'll get to see you again
I haven't posted in so long! I've fallen on dark days, but I know that's no excuse. Here's a new one, probably won't ever become a song.
In other news, I learned it takes 3 and a half hours to walk nine miles.
