Exhaustion takes hold as a suffocating headache.

My eyes burn from staring at screens.

The laundry is piling up and I stand at the edge of its oblivion.

There is so much I still need to complete.

Boxes of our belongings litter the hallways.

They stack against the walls everywhere I turn.

I feel as if it could all cave in.

I am lost under the rolling list of to-dos.

 

The pitter pater of little feet echo around me.

A tumbling laughter comes from the room nearby.

Down the staircase it flows like a waterfall

Directly into my soul to fill the aching gaps.

 

I wonder if I could use a break for an hour,
