If I had known of the floods that would drown me
I would never have prayed for your existence
Had I known that it would be a lifetime of pain and grievance
That my supplications would turn into eulogies
My womb a grave
Or my mind a memorial
I wouldn't have begged at the alter
For the beginning of a life
Which turned into the ending of several
