Orange dots litter the horizon
Little incandescent pockets of life
Content American families
Enjoying a peaceful night
Glad the fire is has not spread
To their homes
As I sit high above the city,
A silent observer,
Breaking the law
Even though I am as safe
As I am in my room
A few miles away
I feel the world up here
So clean and sober
No need for alcohol or drugs
I am in control
Free of everything
No substance but
My own mind
To govern me
Unlike those below
With this star littered canopy
I know what Gary meant
