The morning that relaxes my strained tongue and eye
is secondarily consumed by corned beef hash,
marijuana and electronics
It wanes to afternoon and night
all without the choking and doubt
that might as well have left itself in her place in bed
or in either of the two kinds of tissue
all too often left on my nightstand
by (or in the wake of) her
