If I can stop one heart from breaking
I shall not live in vain.
For the heart asks pleasure first
And then excuse from pain.

I like a look of agony because I know its true.
It says I am nobody, who are you?
Its says I am a poor torn heart,
A tattered heart.

Poor little heart! Did they forget thee?
Proud little heart! Did they forsake thee?
Frail little heart! I will not break thee.

Not with a club the heart is broken,
Nor with a stone-
Its love that deals one imperial thunderbolt
That scalps your naked soul
