An open eye
A kind face
I am fire to warm you
But I don’t burn you
I light **** up
I am quiet
I am respectful
I am hot
So hot, I gotta protect you from myself
I don’t show out
I don’t demand your attention
I’ll discard your fear
What can it do for me
But I consume
In my own way
Quietly
My purpose is a mystery to you
You who step on toes
And necks
In your convention
You accepted particles, who didn’t have to grow
Didn’t have to change it’s shape to comprehend the carnage
Because you are the carnage
And you warm yourself next to me
As you look down upon me
Completely unaware of how uncontainable I am
I remain here for loves sake
You laugh in your ignorance
When you are cold and ugly inside, you always come to me and my tribe
We warm you and we grow
For those afraid of the dark who also shut out the light
Sleeping in the middle
I’ve compassion for you, but I am weary while you sleep
You may never love me, but that is no longer my scar
