I wonder what he's thinking,
Trying to deny that look
That I see in his eyes
When he looks at her.
Does she look back
With equal tenderness and longing?
I do not know,
Though my eyes tell me I do.
If my love for him
As my best friend
Was true and without fault,
I suppose happiness
Should be my feeling by default.
Yet envy is quite carefully
Changing my amber eyes
To an evil shade of green.
