Turn away, deny, deny
Tortured-taunting purged
Can't drown out the voices
If not willingly submerged

Burn bridges, cut ties
Keep demons afar
Never seen a cut that deep
That didn't leave a scar

Push forward, fight through
Must gain ground, or else
Can't bury the past
If you don't dig the hole, yourself

Build walls, shut doors
The levee cracks, decays
Unprepared the rest will be
Though they watched it rain for days
