Dec 2016
Endless ebb of ocean spilled, an all expansive sea,
mirror made of sun and stars, horizon sunset meets.
All submerged, a water world, above, afloat, is me;
from tidal turn, to swim I've earned the murk all sank in sleep.
Brighter days beget sunlight that pierces through the deep;
cities, buildings, all exposed, from mud now settling.
All is swallowed in the void, an epitaph this reef,
where I succumb and anchor down when body has fatigued.
Silence here, from muted mouth, asphyxiates breathing
so I will gasp for want of air, to stave my own drowning;
better days behind in mind, though currents underneath,
so I will drift upon my back and savor salty breeze.
