The ache the page must feel without
the written word while thoughts
are jumbled up in tornado wisdom
of hardback books speaking absolute logic

The ache the fingertips can’t touch
when they have lost the on and off
switch surge of sensitive sensation
so that the bright white square
of moonlight's empty face
stares back with its stupidity
