I read too much romance literature
I lead myself on
Falling for characters that don't exist
Immersed in feelings that aren't mine
Feeling a profound lack
Wishing I had that kind of suspense
Of a lingering kiss
A longing stare
A beautiful moment
Part of a beautiful pair
But the problem with romance novels
Is the fact that they are just books
And no amount of paper I scan
Will materialize those scribbles
Into something I can really experience
Because I feel like a cynic
Reading a two dimensional fallacy
*Could those things really happen to me?
