The love of a parent, solid as a rock,
The light in the eyes of a child, engraved into memory,
The bond with a brother flesh and blood, unbreakable

The love of a parent, gone forever,
The light in the eyes of a lover, thrown away,
The bond with a friend closer than a brother, never been had

A life gone by unnoticed until turned upside down,
A sight gone by unappreciated until blurred by tears,
Company taken for granted until replaced by loneliness.

Life has given you its best shot, but something went wrong,
You were supposed to stay down, but are still going strong
Or maybe not, maybe you’re angry and in pain and you’re scarred forever,
The thing about hitting rock bottom though? It can only get better.
