If you peer over the edge
What is it you'll see
There deserted on the ledge
A glimpse of the real me

Balancing the brink of doom
Secluded from the pack
Circling the margin of the room
Preparing my attack

If you survey the empty border
Isolated, there I'll be
Don't approach as a consoler
I'm not looking for pity

I've examined the single rim
Its boundary my constant view
As if upon inspecting the brim
I'm hoping to notice a clue

Feeling the outsider
Regarded as recluse
Behold I'm the caretaker
Astonished and profuse

If you peek over the edge
Will it be me you'll see
