That which drips from the poison pen
Making its home on the blank page
Words burning into the eyes of men
Causing sensations of hatred and rage

Doubt once raised from the venom spilt
Gives salacious gossip permission to thrive
Terms so vicious they make a man wilt
Causing havoc like an endangered beehive

Phrases so alarming to sully emotions
Seen in written form; off ones toxic mark
Are there no boundaries or exceptions
Just the shame of the blame in the dark

To insult anonymously is most cruel
He who holds that pen is a coward
Sign the missive and prepare to duel
Show the scorn of which contempt is powered

The wound caused by the tainted pen
Can live deep in the recesses of the mind
Anyone sane will always condemn
Hoping they'll never open one of its kind
