Nov 2015
we arrived at the edge of the clearing
hand in hand
i took care of the blanket
while you unpacked the basket
Don't you just love this time of year?
out of the corner of my eye i saw your nose crinkle
i smiled
you had smelt it.
it was impossible not to.
flooding the nostrils
like the first seasons rain down a dry desert canyon
gripped by a morbid curiosity
you ran to discover what it was.
i almost stopped you
we were having so much fun.
but then you started to scream
and now I've got no choice.
