The night is so still
in the small midwestern town
Suns slid behind the hill
to finish its day down

To walk the silent street
your lungs fill with ease
To hear the people meet
with the singing of the trees

Fireflies appear here and there
the children smile and hop
Everyone's jumping in the air
trying to capture their prop

The street emptying quickly now
thresholds entered with grateful bow
