The day my daddy died a new lover took his memory
Mommy kept inviting strange men in the house
They filled my lungs with poison
They marked my body with bruises
They cursed my very foundation
They came in and out
Changing the colors of Mommy's skin
Taking her in shackles into the bedroom
She hollered till her throat went dry
She kicked till her legs went numb
There was nothing she could do
Until one day
I walked into mommy's room
She was hanging from a rope
Glass bottles shattered on the ground
I left and took what was left of her
I am at her tombstone
Barely able to stand upright
I fall to the ground on my begging knees
Cursing my mom for leaving me
I stumble away
My vision all blurry
My words all slurry
I am now long gone
My new lover took my life
Beer.
