A heart like
An abandoned evacuation site

Fear encircles
Like wolves at the gates
Powdered courage
Hangs in the air
The repugnant stench
Of stale ambition
Suffocating tomorrow's glow

The pangs from venomous arrows
A reminder
Of the red that still
Pumps furiously inside of veins
So you stem the tide
Bleed to remind of why you love.
