Burn bright, my morning star.
Give the sun a cause to shine
upon a planet too familiar with darkness.
Never silence the symphony
that is your heartbeat-
play loud, so we may move to its rhythm.
To know the power you hold
relax the clenched fist.
Lift your head to watch the passing
of men and women who walk upon clouds.
Watch their way,
create your own
and transcend the limitation of self.
There is wonder to be found in the commonplace.
Time is your own, to do with what you will.
Burn bright, my morning star.

I do not regret the summer spent
caring for a flower
which would eventually wither
without trace of ever having blossomed.
It had its sunrises and sunsets.
That's enough.
