In all the glory of the morning Sun,
you were my first.
When the dark encloses and I shut my eyes,
you will be my last.
Sometimes I get lost in the days
though.
And you become infinite
You are my piece of infinity

My cigarette burns at one end,
but we burnt at both.
We told lies and ill-advised "I love you's"
wishing to keep this alive.
Turn two smoking ends
into something that never dies.
And it never does,
for whenever I feel that burning in my heart
I find forever
in what once was.

She had eyes
that told you a million stories
and lips
that could show you the world.
Her heart
was as sharp as the rocks
that lay below her shallow bed of love.
And her words
her words were like distant bells
or small explosions
that lit the flame of desire.
And you burned
until nothing was left
Except another story to tell

I think of what could have been.
The earth we walked upon,
and the flowers that should have grown,
but withered away.

I think of what should have been.
The nights you laid in my arms
and the words we could have spoke,
but chose not to.

I think of you.
I love you.
Or at least,
I think I do.

Flowers
are what I’ll give you.
They are lovely,
like you.
They blossom in the Sun,
like the two of us.
But they don’t last.
Things never do.
But while they are here,
they are bold,
beautiful, and benign.
So, let’s become
flowers.

I write to you in billows of cigarette smoke
and nicotine dreams.
And the reality is when everyone else is
coughing up a lung
I spit out my heart, saying
"Take it, this is for you"
please.

I wonder what others think of
when they look at the stars.
Because lately, I've been doing a lot gazing.
These great ***** of fire
these sparkling streetlights caught in space
they seem so beautiful, but so cold.
And when I look into the heavens,
I see only one star
and that's you.
With angelic radiance you shined.
Maybe a little too bright.
Because you see
I was blinded by your light.
Blinded to see that you
were more than just a star.
You were my Sun
But you lit up
another sky
.

To the mornings of endless silence,
Broken by a hint of our secret laughter.
Shattered by the words we spoke so softly,
"Good morning."
Fractured by the way we stared at each other
with the sun beaming through the windows.
Illuminating your eyes and reflecting into mine,
giving me light and energizing my soul.
Landing so gracefully on your lips,
and falling so heavily on our skin.

We lay here.
In a room so noisy, so bright.
And I kiss you endlessly,
Silence.

****.
Miserable, lost, mistaken.
Drowning in a sink of nothing that is you.
Overwhelmed by your absence
I am nothing.
And you
are Everything.

Breathe.
Just breathe
As if it were the very last breath
Like the very last time I'll ever inhale in my life,
I fill up my lungs, to the point where they'll burst.
On the verge of self-implosion,
I'll breathe until it hurts.

I let the air flow right through me
Let it comfort me.
Wrap me up in a chillingly warm embrace
Kind of like grandma's hugs.

It'll pierce me right to the bone.
Break me right in half, and cut this heart of stone.
And with a swift breeze it picks me right back up.
It mantles all my misplaced pieces,
and cradles me.

Inhale,
in through the nose
Exhale,
Out through the mouth.

There is no need for haste, my love.
We can let it flow with the wind.
Stay or go, like the autumn leaves we shall be swept away.
But it's okay.
I am at peace
Surrounded by it.

When you were still here
the Sun shined a little bit brighter.
We rode rays of light
with each kiss.
And falling ever-so-gently into love
with lips pressed against lips
The moon and stars
became our chandelier
These barren streets
became our ballroom
And we waltzed into eternity.

*If you were still here...

I sent my love in seven letters.
Scattered, torn apart, and burnt to pieces
you left me like these letters that never reached you.

And I've got a sixth sense for these type of things,
because you see
love is my second nature.

In five easy steps
you lit the flame
that burnt nature to the ground.

Through all four seasons,
especially when summer nights get cold
I'll be thinking of you.

So I'll leave you with three words
"I love you"

Maybe two more
"Be happy"

I'll write to you again,
one day.

I carry you
on my back and
in my arms
I hold you so tight.
But I grow weak.

I cling to you
in my thoughts.
And I find rest
in our fondest of memories.
Yet, even those fade.

Know this, my love,
when I grow old and my body fails me,
and when my mind ceases to remember us,
I will keep you
forever
in my heart.
