Shake Things Up
Eshan Bhatt Mar 2018
We’ve been rockin the bottom
For quite a long time
I’m tired of just lagging behind,
This ain’t my rhythm nor rhyme

I’m used to running the scene
Making new rules for the system
Because everyone is doing the average
And I aim to not stick with them

Let’s set bars for the people,
Let’s bust **** up for the crowd,
Let’s make moves that people will love,
Let’s get our name yelled loud!

I want people to remember us
Because who puts in effort just for fun?
I’ve got an appetite to be the best
Ain’t it won’t stop till we’re number one

I’m gonna shake things up
Because I’m done playing games
I’m in this **** to win a few
It ain’t ever gonna be the same

Heartbeat (Dhadkan)
Eshan Bhatt Mar 2018
Remember a time when you had feelings,
I’m sure you can remember once or twice,
When you lost control of yourself,
And with dissapointment, you paid the price

To find someone who understood,
The traits of your self-being,
A person with striking qualities,
A person who gives you meaning

But to this day I have failed,
To find a person who cares,
A person who truly gives a ****
A person as much as I do them

And every time I try to figure out,
If this person could give me meaning,
I am always left in pieces in end,
My heartbeat is forever screaming

And so I wonder why I even try,
Because I can’t imagine a situation,
Where I can let my emotions be free,
Not subject to constant cremation

One day this might change,
My emotions I will tame,
But right now in the present,
My heartbeat screams the same.

Between the Lines
Eshan Bhatt Mar 2017
There are moments in life,
Where you fail to see,
The plain and obvious meaning

You fail to see,
What can't be seen,
The frustration leaves you screaming

It would be more simple,
If we could speak our words,
Without playing this silly game

Because you and I know,
This has gone too long,
And it's starting to get really lame

You know I like you,
I know you like me,
So let's explore these furtive signs

You already have me ******,
Stop playing these charades,
Enough reading between the lines

The River
Eshan Bhatt Sep 2016
As the water flows down the path,
Your mind slowly drifts through thought.
How did I come across this beauty?
And also, why have I not?

The view changes your perception.
You believe so strongly in what you see.
The movement of the water's ripples,
The graceful movement of the trees.

You cant help but wonder,
How did this treasure get created?
You ponder the answer for a while.
But *******, you're too faded.

So ok here's what I think.
Since we really need an answer.
The River represents Nature's flow.
Never stopping, always on the go.

It's because The River never stops.
It's waters are always moving.
Just like the energy of nature.
So calming, so soothing.

If you are ever by The River,
Look deep into its soul.
You might find Nature's voice.
And at that moment you'll feel whole.

They Will Never Get There
Eshan Bhatt Jun 2016
Ah, yes the sound of laughter
4 friends in a car going to a movie
Summer is here, couldn't be happier
But they will never get there

A girl turns the music up
Yelling and screaming in the rear
The others all texting each other
Even the one required to steer

It's a classic example of a mistake
Lack of attention by the driver in front
Music so loud it could **** the ears
The next scene will look like a stunt

One vehicle crashes into another
Collisions everywhere in the field
The cars with their front ends inward
Wounds that cannot be healed

The police come by for a look
CSI enter to examine the scene
"If they had worn their seatbelts...
...they would've come out clean."

They find the source of the crash
It was still in her cold, limp hand
"I can't believe this still happens."
"I don't understand how it can."

"We make sure they learn in school,
how dangerous these things are"
"Irresponsibility has consequences,
especially when you are in a car"

The lead squad car gets a call
"Head on crash near exit 10"
The CSI ask what transpired
"4 friends. 2 cars. It happened again."

Life is like a Canvas
Eshan Bhatt Jun 2016
Life is like a Canvas.
Where one can paint their picture,
Of who they were, and what they did.
More telling than any scripture.

It's sad when one loses a Canvas,
Where a picture could have been created.
Out of their hands this decision was,
No one at fault, no one to be hated.

You never will know the day,
When your Canvas might be lost.
So paint the best picture ever made,
Live your life no matter the cost.

Running From Time
Eshan Bhatt Jun 2016
Why do you run from Time?
Is it because you're afraid,
Of a certain climb?

Is it because you believe in truth?
Only you can prove something,
You must become a sleuth?

Is it because you are afraid?
You're scared of what awaits,
After the eye's light fades?

Tell me, what are you afraid of?
Pardon me if I'm strikingly shrewd.
Because you cannot run from Time,
But Time can run from you.

Odds
Eshan Bhatt Jun 2016
In life we seem to play the odds,
To win big money, to get fat wads.

Sometimes for fortune, sometimes for fame.
I can't understand why we play this game.

Is it for the excitement, is it for the thrill?
Oh please somebody tell me. I hope somebody will.

Favored to win this, favored to win that.
Oh no the odds have changed, Ortiz is at bat.

What are the odds, the odds that odds matter?
1/1 or 1/000,000,000,000,000,000, I think the latter.

The Most Dangerous Game
Eshan Bhatt Jun 2016
When the petals all fall,
You will hear the call.

The howl to save the day.
The game which you must play.

Dangerous rules there are.
The solution seems so far.

So determined you must be,
To be the one to see,

The way to end it all.
The route is not so small.

Perseverance you shall need.
Not love, hate, or greed.

To ensure the well being of all people.
Every church to every steeple.

Don't ever give up the cause.
Don't ever stop or pause.

Because you know that if you do,
This game you will surely lose.

The Pit
Eshan Bhatt Jun 2016
Every time I enter the Pit,
I go in knowing it could be my last time.
My last opportunity to pray to god,
My last chance to apologize to those I couldn't save

Every time I enter the Pit,
I face a new foe in its darkness.
The objective is survival.
It doesn't matter whether I win or lose.

But the ultimate point of the Pit,
Quite dreadful the goal it has.
To make the best survivors,
Using Darwin's natural selection

Every time I enter the Pit,
I may get beaten near to death.
But if I should survive the trial,
I will rise, reborn from the ashes.

P.S. - My filled in poetic interpretation of the newest Injustice 2 trailer
Eshan Bhatt Jun 2016
The Street that they called Lies,
Was scary as anything could be.
It was dark, lonely, and very deathly,
But it would not scare me.

The Street that they called Strength,
Was an incredible legend of might.
But even he had days where he,
Would lose the will to fight.

The Street that they called Love,
Was a different beast from the rest.
More than all the others combined,
It put me to the test.

It tore me from logical thought,
And clouded all my judgement.
But for all that I tried to pull away,
I was held down like cement.

It made me feel amazing,
And I could not simply refuse,
The joy it gave me every day,
The energy that you could reuse

One day the Street let me go,
And I wandered for a bit.
Not knowing what to do with myself,
I felt like quite the twit.

What happened to my energy?
I lacked the will to move
Like a dancer without his music,
I lost the will to groove.

I think I may be cursed,
From that awful, dreadful street.
The Street that they called Love,
The street where I will retreat
