I wake up everyday wondering...

To whom should I thank?

For being the only one in the world
            you can't fool.

She'll hug me purely.
But she'll just have to hug the rest of the people
in the room right after.
For that I hate her.
And for that I love her.

It took billions of years for the light to shine upon the black velvet of space.
Millions, for it to shine upon the hearts of men.
Thousands, for it to shine upon the night bathed streets.
A second, for it to shine upon me.
Or maybe even faster than it takes for a light bulb to glow.
It was photons on their very genesis.

I saw you on the street.
It was it.

You
Truth is:
I'm a man standing alone in a plain.
A cold dark empty plain.
I'm barefooted, barely dressed.
The falling snow starts to build up on my shoulders
And the darkness infects my bones.
My trembling fingers grasp the rough ground as I start to
die.

But the sun pierces through the snow clouds,
melting them along with the cold air that was tearing my lungs.
The sunlight embraces my body, dances with every feature of my face.
Fairness is born.
And the darkness dies within me.

--However--

I know the night will arrive,
And I will be frozen again.

I saw you at the cafe in the square.
You were alone.
However,  you seemed in the company of thousands
of so much light that showed your eyes.

I approached and spoke to you.
No sound came out of my mouth,
I lacked the courage.

To climb a staircase that high,
to touch the clouds with my fingertips,
and feel the celestial blue
just to see the
most beautiful
Angel,
You.

But the staircase crumbles and starts to fall
and I dive in freefall towards
the earth.

The place where you're not.

The clouds are afraid for themselves and run.
The night conquers the sky.

And you stay away.
Invisible. Untouchable.

I keep flying unwillingly.
A few more seconds and I collapse.

But you look at me,
If only you want - says your mouth - Grow wings
and fly to me.

I stop and hover.
I'm falling no more

I feel them growing.
Beautiful and heavenly feathers.
Like yours.
If your voice gave me such a gift,
what could give me your touch?

I climb the skies and challenge the world.
Your world.
The clouds bend to my passage,
heaven becomes colorless for fear of my presence
and you're close, visible.
Almost there.

I saw you at the cafe in the square.
But you have company
yet you look alone.

The light dies because your eyes are closed.
And you stay away, invisible, untouchable.

I fell on the earth

The place where you're not.
This is the first poem that I'm posting here.
I'm portuguese, therefore I'm not confortable writing in a language that is not my own.
I decided to start to share my poems because it felt unfair for me being reading everybody's and not sharing my own.
Even though it's hard for me to show my poems (it's a thing I keep for myself) I'll give this a go.
Thank you ;)
