This poem is alive
Just as much as you and me
And not in as metaphor or simile
Alder Mar 2015
I was a king on a throne of wisdom
I carved mountains of thought
I plumed the depths of reality
but in every foundation and path I have carved
I've found your name engraved
and all these things that I thought made me great
were just an escape from you
I found I am your ******* servant
forever carving your likeness in statues you don't want

I have loved you all the years of my life
and my survival has only been due to
seeing your ghost in every woman
every voice, every thought, and dream,
but these dreams are also nightmares
for I must become sober to the reality
that you are far away and I am not
and it was by my own folly that this is so.

I am mad and it seems to me
No other way that I can be
I think and try to make my thoughts
as hard a metal as I can wrought
but when I add them all together
they fall apart

If only the winds of circumstance
Would bring us more than just a glance
For though it is you that I desire
It would be to no avail should I conspire
So I will drift upon these seas
And long dream of a subtle breeze
And at the slightest change in our luck
I will stop at nothing until we
are together
