I don't want the wind to take me where it blows
I want my roots to hold me in place
Let me turn my back on the falling trees
That were swept away by this gentle breeze
Helpless as their strong roots mistook their stillness for stiffness
And left them without telling them it was time to leave
My roots shiver as the wind brushes past my shoulder
And laughs at my resistance to its sweeping ways
As it descends slowly to my feet,
I pray my roots root for me.

One
One plus one
Equals none
If one wants to distance itself from the other one
And the other one enjoys the solitude in being a binary one,
A one with no one.

"Follow your dream," they said
And so I complied
I followed it everywhere it went
Climbed the walls of illusion neuron by neuron
Never looked back to see if there was any damage done
We swam with memories in lakes of blood
We heaved the weight of conscience all the way to unforeseen finish lines
Our hands never bled climbing over my cord of spines
For hours, we walked across fields of black grass
Wandering around to see how long this black could last
And there we sat over my forehead
Dangling our feet by my brow
And that was it.
No lands to visit
No places to see
Nothing else for me
The dream laughed and said,
"Too bad I went over your head."
