hold me tight,
with your lips
take me to your paradise.
let's sing this hymn
in unity, with one voice,
on a well-designed podium.
lift me up, sing to my ears songs
with the sweetness in a baby's voice,
call me to order.
like a police officer, parade me
into your crime world -
you the protagonist
$ I, the antagonist.
let's fight this war together -
i'll be the sword $ you'll be the shield
and we'll win the battles as warriors.

Asake,
let's create a story
on this matrimonial platform
that would be stained by your red kiss.
let me voyage through your homeland,
visit your kinsmen
with my mightiness.
PLEDGE TO NIGERIA
By: Adigun Temitope Idealism

From between heaven and earth stand a perilous place
Where poverty kicked us on face
Tears stand as our drinks
Where hunger eat up our meals
Our pain is a poisonous laughter
Where sadness becomes our daily activities
Where hardship becomes our ambition
And sorrow our career
Still, we need to pledge to Nigeria

Blood, bone and oil,
Are the pedestal of earth
Where killing is a lifestyle
And ****** a hobby
Where humiliation becomes our take home
And misfortune our store-house
Where graduate works by the road-side
Where poverty is titillating and titivating before the mirror of our land
Yet we need to pledge to Nigeria

Pledge to Nigeria
Even when the birds refuses to sing,
When moon dims its light,
When our days turn into nights
When sun fails to shine
And flowers refuse to bloom
When life fails to give reasons
When dreams refuse to forgive
When the weep inside birth the smile outside
When tears wash hope from our sight
Nigeria must still be pledge to

I pledge to Nigeria
Not to be one if the ambassadors that sing the National Anthem with a teleprompter smiling at them in a shameful tears
I pledge not to be a naked masquerade dancing at the village square
I pledge to steal government money for the poor when I become the President
I pledge to be loyal and not betrayal
I pledge to fight off vices and calamities with my pen
If democracy must to end
I pledge to go crazy to stop it to the end
If civilization was to make us stupid
I pledge to swim in stupidity not to be civilised
I pledge, I pledge

In every situations let us always pledge to nigeria
I am a poet
Sitted under the tree that breeze life
Grew inspirations
That impregnate words
That birth lines
The daughter of verses
On a floating leaf of pages

I am a poet
That listen to the beautiful paradox of pens
I climbed trees to the paragon of perfection
I'm the rhythm of the heart
Blossom of attraction
And a song of lovers' reaction

I am a poet
A painter
That can't draw
A straight line
A dancer
Stepping on toes
With a nervous shake

I am a poet
A voice of change
Advocating for peace
A face of progress
Crying for love
I act like a politician
With no lies
And no silver tongue
I stand as speakhng dumb
Saying no to corruption

I am a poet
That write for glory of the printed ink
To climb the pyramid
And look down to find out what you know
I pen for the living and the dead
The spirits in the wind
To the open road ahead
To the ghosts who sing joyfully for the living

I am a poet
Who happily suffer
For what I love doing
A poet who put himself through misery
For poetry
That is who I am
We paddle in an experience
that make us wiser
If learning is to make us smarter
then we must ponder
in this world of wonder
to link both together

As we age
We grow in minds and our bodies decay
We wish it were another way
At the end of the day

We grow
Growing just as an old tree
sprouts new life
Just as the mountains dance
so also. the sun lights the way
'til the day turns to night
We continue to grow everyday

— The End —
