We do not beg for peace —
The War-Men have no peace to give.
    Peace is yours, mine, ours.
        Peace is ready now.

God bless and guide America—

Her hearts and minds and hands.

And God bless us, Americans,

United in and by our faiths

That with God’s help,

God’s faith in us,

America be saved.

Today, somewhere, there are people who are
and now wish they were not who they had once wished to be.

To them, I say, sweep the old away and wish again.

Others may say that a simple wish is not enough  
but I'd point out that without that single simple wish
nothing follows. There has always been a wish.
