Aton sa liwat handurawon
Ang isa ka maragtason nga tini-on
Tini-on kon sa diin naghugpong kita
Agud tapuson ang diktadurya
Diktadurya nga sa aton nagpamigos
Naghatag sg kahadlok kg pag-antos
Gamit ang kamot nga salsalon
Mga krony naghari sa gobierno naton
Ang kahilwayan sa pagpahayag
Hinali nga natiphag
Naglala ang komunismo kg terorismo
Kg pagbayular sg kinamatarong sg tawo
Gani kita nagsinggit sa mga dalan
Nga ang gobierno dapat na islan
Kg sang ginpatay si Ninoy Aquino
Kg sang sa Sanap Election kita ginunto
Minilyon nga mga tawo naghugpong sa EDSA
Kg nagsinggitan nga “Tama na! Sobra na!”
Sa tunga sg mga soldado kg tangke
Imol, manggaranon, babayi, lalaki, estudyante, mga madre
Matawag ini nga isa ka mirakulo
Kay wala sg gamo kg nag-agay nga dugo
Isa ini ka rebolusyon nga mahidaeton
Inspirasyon sg tanan nga mga nasyon
Amo ini ang legasiya sg mga Pilipino
Nga dapat ipabugal sa tanan nga tawo!

My Poem No. 254
Jordan Soriano Sep 2019
can you hear them?
the cries of the children who have no land to pass down to their descendants

can you see them?
the bodies of the Sainas (elders) who starved to death

can you feel them?
the spirits of our ancestors chasing you out of our jungles

do you appreciate them?
the CHamoru soldiers who fought beside you in combat

i'isao hao: you are a sinner
you have sinned against us, against God, against our ancestors, against the land, and you have sinned against the future generations

get out of our land! take your bullets! take your bulldozers! take the chemicals that pollute our water! take your bombs! take back your broken promises! take back your lies! take it all back!

give us, the taotaotano (people of the land) our islands back

Amelia's bones are buried;               cannibals

                                  she invited him
back to her                    hotel room &  called own for a meal                  & bandages & patched up his                                               cuts & ****** him off

Lea's mother  was a **** ******* ** who always had a smile & stayed ***** w/ weird little pink pills the medicine man gave her                            poet & he kind of stayed                     on   in exchange for ***
mostly on the beach & when tornadoes
came through & ore up the plac          Lea's mother             e he volunteered w/ everyone else to help find                      those who vanished & then          to rebuild       he wrote about them & s dementia     didn't keep him                                  from writing
the little ***** named                          Lea wanted to be     a believing
               Catholic Roman but                        she was a *****;
ometimes read is weather                 poems live over a ham radio to be broadcast in the

        interest in him
& he got phone calls from Sheila
                   asking about his health Lea's

but when every is        did it matter                 ruined she has to
Sometimes when she read George his poems Lea would throw in bits of the Bible                          to improve her
.            English by the time she           well read & became        an eloquent     speaker     George didn't know which was which                                              **** for free & collect later \
woman on a brief        .                 two-day hiatus on the far south sea islan       d                         where she kept an open reservation;                          & he was grateful;                   the young                   ***** took to wading                                  .                    is poetry back to him
w/ the last tidal wave she &        Gorge became a        sort of prophet predicting the weather w/
George refused to shave his beard & his wife gave up after Sheila's lawyers bought her off
his poems & the medicine man
.               brought his friends the other medicine
            men from the surrounding
islands & initiated George into the cosmic tribe & made every happy & drunk George married
.                                    Lea & her               aged but lively       mother in an ancient island
ceremony dating back  after the episode w/ his wife George regained his senses; George was
at his best after every thing was annihilated thankfully
taking thankfully           inventory            of the dead & destroyed / George living there the place became a tourist trap
.                     .
he became the laureate of the cluster of small islands         & atolls He bought a condo high above the sand y        beach so he could see the waves smashing down on              the houses on the shore
.              to the very first humans; wow, a George lucidly                     to  everyone's surprise like it was miracle;
Sheila, Ruthie her partner & Abigail the          agent attended the well attended ceremony;                    George even made the press wires word getting back to his wife
in Bayonne; her husband missing                several years & give up for dead                her mother took to staying w/ the
increasingly             forgetful   poet in the suite
he told S             heila &
.                           she felt terrible  &       .          started sending money
so they could get by
Lea s                   topped smoking crack
Sheila said she was                flying out in
the morning but that he could keep the room;
it                                  was paid for by                      her company; her own company  .           she kissed his forehead as he slept

Everyone on the island was grateful to George & the poet grateful
to Sheila who appreciated Lea & her mother for looking after him.
