"connections" poems
Phone in your home Phone with you on the road Three way connections Incoming calls, not one, but another-aka call waiting Phones with caller ID Cordless phones Hands free phones Toothy phones sticking out of people's ears Picture phones...say cheese! Phone texting instead of talking Hello? I cannot hear you! Television and movies in your home DVD players in your car Watch those images on your computer Watch them on your cell phone Television in the airport Television in the restaurant Television at the gas pump Television in the grocery store line What's next? Television in the operating room? Music on your home stereo Music on your car radio Store it all on your traveling ipod Melodious cell phone rings everywhere Your mp3 player and new computer speakers Your favorite cable music channels And plenty of music blasted in the stores Can't I just have a thought to myself? Don't forget computers! Instant messaging Junk mail in cyberspace All your shows and movies always at your instant access Computer dating Computer stalkers and hacking Computer crashes I foresee because computer bugs and viruses are trying to invade my soul! And I feel sick! I can't get that music out of my head! I think my ears are ringing! You've heard of couch potatoes I think I'm a mouse potato! How is that for a human spud? Yes, I admit I'm addicted to my PC! That I spend more time with technology than I do with the human race! I should be burnt out like old hardware that is on extreme overload Not made of wires and steel but of flesh and blood I am designed! But I can't stop!!! The technology of the future is now here! I know what George Jetson was saying when he said: JANE! GET ME OFF THIS CRAZY THING!

I am grateful I can feel thankful for life instead of just hating on it like I used to. I am grateful for choosing real connections instead of checking out and isolating into myself. I am grateful I can be a son to my parents, a husband to my wife, a father to my daughter, and a friend to my friends instead of drinking myself to death a day at a time.

gratitude
3/5/2014 Decisions, Directions, Conflicts, Connections. Who's to say I know best? Everyday is just a test. To move or to stay. To breathe or decay. To love or abate. To rebel or obey. To commit or to stray. Every kiss begins with K, but then you factor in fate. I lead a life of ambition, with no room for indecision. But I just don't know what's next. All I do is try my best. I can't complain or compare, The results would be unfair. I have lots, and others little, yet life, still gets fickle. I have little family and fewer friends, who stay until the end? I'm not worried or sad. I just wish that I had: stayed, prayed, paid, or given away. You live and you learn. You decide and get burned, but thus is life. Everything happens for a reason. We'll see what happens next season. Time. Time to pick. Time to choose. Time to stick. No time to lose. Compare. Contrast. Pro vs Con. "Decisions, decisions." I knew all along.

Decisions
my heart was an open book full of blank sections and searching for meaning I filled it with questions I looked for connections or some explanation I looked for letters and I found punctuation

they called me here to this home to this time. I listened I've always been a good listener. as soon as I learned the definition of heed, I began. it's my favorite word and so I listened and we're here and it all just keeps working. paying attention to the subtleties , the wind breeze, the crows tease, the bugs glowing, blue eye… the crimson show, the earth moved, the air beneath this ground, the vines lasting stretch to protect the fruit obviously grown for us. never a year before? I truly wonder still. when? now, as he said. it's now. I'm only now. there is nothing to await though impatience is a mental normalcy. our friend in the desert made the connections. she must have told me though I don't remember hearing her. I ramble sometimes and listening is impaired. of course I'm a work in progress… it's mostly due to depending on my memory its impermanent in its very nature. now! if I lived there, I would have it a little easier but I'm still scared of the dark. one of the remaining fears, a part of the message sent; called me here. the lessons continue to self realize and appear, right at my eyes, never before always on time. always.

punctuality
The power of music and friendship heals dead connections; a well-meaning member of a jam session offers me a guitar. I politely decline, embarrassed by my disability, and they shrug.  Your choice. The familiar curves beneath my arm like a woman from my past, my amnesiac left hand reaches for the muscle memory of fifty years' practice. After an agonizing minute, the G chord miraculously plays, as I played it at five, the three big fingers alone strong enough to hold it. The switch to C impossible; so I play a variation. Doesn't sound bad with the group. My God, I might play a D7 by the next time it comes around in the song. The gang is playing old standards, Ohio State music; three chords and a cloud of dust, which suits my present skill(?) well. I almost cried when a few tunes later, we sang A Horse With No Name to my accompaniment. Beethoven was deaf, yet heard the Ode To Joy. Hawking is paralyzed, and travels the universe. I have three good fingers, and no good excuses.

tie it to my hand
I am you, you are me There is no difference inside to see The color of your skin, hair or eyes Does not represent what’s inside. Physical traits come from the family tree They give roots, history and a sense of identity But inside we have the same blood, the same heart So when does prejudice begin to take part? Babies are born without preconception They feel love and comfort from their caregiver’s affection Their new eyes are blind to ignorance They see through a clear lense and don’t see difference As they develop, society gives them glasses, Their vision gets clouded by the opinions of the masses The lenses get darker as they grow They filter the world to see only colors they know Differences become obstacles, not celebrated. Leaders tell them who to respect and who should be hated. These biased views could remain for a lifetime And then they’re passed down to the next one in line. Opinions are essential, shared thoughts educate. But when they’re bigoted and hateful we cannot tolerate. Take those blinders off, take a look around. There’s so much joy in diversity to be found Don’t let the blindfold give such a narrow view Don’t be complacent and take what is given to you Rip off the filter, open your eyes Find connection, common experience, destroy the lies Revel in these connections, learn from one another We’re all trying to get through from one day to the other See through the skin, the hair, the accent To the core of the HUMAN BEING with love and respect.

1.) You have the most loving heart. Your warmth, your gentle touch that you personify without words. Melts the supports of my heart 2.) Eyes of deep blue, that ensnare me and leave me thoughtless. How they change into everglade greens, and mystical greys. They're beautiful 3.) Few laughs may be as pure as your quiet giggle. The mere sound gives me goosebumps and a funny feeling in my stomach. You're so freakin' adorable 4.)The curves of a semi-circle aren't nearly as perfect as yours. You've worked alot for the perfect body. I simply need to ask... How can you make something that's something that is already perfect better? 5.) Spontaneous, unexpected and surprising. You keep me on my feet, keep me entertained and make me enjoy every second with you. Who knows what I am to expect?! 6.) Once upon a time, there lived to fluffy bunnies, they decided to leave their little hole and go out on an adventure. A wolf came along and bit of the rabbits head and it bled to death Its so dark, and it leaves you wondering what to think. I love your dark side. It both terrifies and intrigues me 7.) You're so intellectual. I love some of the things you say and more importantly write! You have an amazing capacity for knowledge and wisdom and you use it well. It baffles me, some of the connections you make in your essays and assignments 8.) My love you illustrate a maturity that surpasses your years. Pertaining to your ability to be responsible and reliable if and when - not that I ever am - clearly am not able to be. I think you're the one looking after me. I'm the older one, who just happens to have an 8yr old inside them~ 9.) You smell amazing, but no. Seriously, you are in every way, shape or form. The most amazing, star studded, picture perfect, superbly sensational girl. I could ever have met. Yes, let the alliteration flow 10.) Because you're you, and you are mine

I seem to be the master at this game always out liking someone I dive it with high expectations and end with them crashing down into the dirt because I always out like You liked me, I liked you you stopped liking me eventually, but I didn't stop liking you I win, you lose. You'd think winning is a sweet victory but winning this game ends in nothing but sad nights I win, you lose. I'll stay on the phone, content with just listening to our silence and you did too for a while I win, you lose. I'll go out of my way to see you you'd go when it was convenient I win, you lose. I keep the same feelings while yours wither ha, I win. you lose. All connections break because you simply don't feel it anymore I win, you lose.

The Liking Game
You put garbage in you get garbage out Health food fanatics know what I am talking about McDonalds, Arby’s and all those Buffets Sluggish citizens working Twelve to ten And to cover up their poor nutrition We soup up the brackish black brew Killing ourselves with more caffeine till We collapse You put garbage in you get garbage out Good teachers with years of experience Know what I am talking about The tweet, the face book Are superficial connections Binge watching brain-dead reality show people Speed reading unverified Articles Peer reviewed paper by academic writers Don’t get the press the talking heads With party lines and hateful sentiments get You put garbage in you get garbage out Any poet philosopher knows what I am talking about Flashing screens switching scenes while twitching teens Sit texting banal and ephemeral things No grand dreams but to be normal No expansion of the human potential Just block and block of picket fence prisons Dreams are limited to advertised fantasies

Garbage In Garbage Out
This world filled with so many lies and misconceptions, I find it hard to thrive, hard to make meaningful connections. Life constantly focused on money, what to buy, on endless consumption, is not a life I want to live, and is one that I'll eventually walk away from. For now, like most, I endure; life enjoyed is seldom. Just trying to be myself, trying not to lose my mind in this ****** up conundrum we call society.

Society
'Look at Me', so self absorbed in outward looks and latest fashion. With disregard for inner peace, selfless thought, and kind compassion. Piercing ears, with holes so big they look like they're starting to melt. Trousers about the knees; showing off pants, clearly in need of a belt. Cheap plastic toys bought without thought, of which so quickly we tire, Relationship failing to last without love and once all consuming desire. Throw away gadgets and electronic connections, with all  life's worth we trust. But when they are broken, will never be fixed; just casually tossed to the dust. Mealtime no longer a social or family affair, at a table with fork and knife, Check-in's a must so 'friends' will know that you're having a really great life. No album prints of family snaps and childhood memories that last, It's all about selfies, and sharing on line with 'friends' that human connections bypass.

Latest Fashion
The only consistent thing having my back is my corset always try to build connections but will never force it I have come to peace with oneness, I know its all about how I perceive aloneness Cannot say that some days I do not sway Teardrops mimic the rains, falling falling away Each day different energy to conquer An ambitious rida like my anthem by Tupac Shakur Summer perfumed memories making me hate the chilly breeze Such a beautiful array of colours but my mind is stuck on green Memories of the nights we laid underneath the moon's eyes Everyday communication through the 3 and 5-D Forget how much I loved my own eyes, vivid green that can pierce through lies Hips blessed with the holy fruit of the divine With you and without everyone I will continue to thrive As long as I can inhale., I will thrive As long as my hands are mine to control, I will express my thoughts on my mind As long as my spine allows, I will climb that mountain no doubt Always extending the lands I have touched.

I S A A C
*Friendships come and friendships go, some may wither, some may grow. Some die from a careless word and some from rumors one has heard. Some fail when "connections" die and some die from a toxic lie. But some are nurtured from the start by "fertilizer" from the heart, loyalty and "being there" when others fail, when they should care. So, as a friend I'd truly be always listening, if you need.*

Lending an Ear
I’ve got a history of one night stands. Nights that end alone, Adding up the lovers it all blurs into an escapade of ecstasy.                  Abusadora, Is what is written across my heart. So diseased, and devoured I can’t help the desire I have to be touched, and consumed. Eat all my words, envelop all that I am. Let me take you in, and let you rot inside for the night. False connections. Yet my body knows what to do next, Just get undressed and let my insatiable appetite do the rest. I left you behind, on purpose. I had you leave my titillating circus. No need for you to stay, When I cannot even begin to behave. I am my own best company. Especially when I become what one would define as, Aroused. So I’ll teach myself to remember that history is often repeated. I’ll dispose of the man that thinks he is worthy Of all that is that makes me. For there is no other sensation best kept As the ones my own body does *****

I don't live here I'm only camping On this planet I didn't plan it Yet I feel the need to explain it As the plaintiff To the sheriff Imposing tariffs Money is their concern While my emotions burn They are somewhat surviving At the price of dying That's the cost of lying It makes us stop trying Only commodity buying While silently sighing And violently frying Through fruitless searches No matter what we purchase Or how much we spend The gripping grief never ends When there are no hands to lend There are no problems with these items When we willingly refuse to sight them They are from where our problems erupt For we neglectfully allow them to disrupt The connections that our hearts yearn for And our wallets burn for When we spend our emotions on inanimate objects To avoid the intangible subject Of love We're frightened of phantoms A life heightened by tandem Is not in the cards We buy for each other They don't begin to cover The way we feel They are a shield For our true emotions Objects can't evoke one Yet that's our language for expression Consumerism acts as our lethal injection

i popped the 20+ year old disk into the cd drive as we began to role down the road. something came alive in my 35+ year old dad who screamed along with cobain after the twelfth song had finished we sat in a few moments of silence one of the only real connections i had ever had with the man *you know, scott and i were driving to school on this road in 94' someone came on the radio announcing that kurt cobain was found dead we stopped the car and just sat there in the road for a long time then we turned around and went home* i felt those words. of everything he's ever told me i felt that the most music is everything great in this world people die music doesn't

"grunge is dead"
If the "Twinflame", or what is better known as the "Soul Mate Theory" rings any truth, then I believe I have felt this, even within my own disarray of natural human emotion and connections. The "Love" emotion, in particular, defines the world "Soul Mate" to its truest definition, without question. I'm a true believer that I have/had or maybe still will encounter this sort of spirit and that any lifetime spent with such a kind soul was a lifetime of riches and happiness beyond what anything mad-made could deliver. I hope when we do find these people we let them them know and I hope they recognize this sort of bond as the most infinate form of respect and compliment. I never imagined my story being a love story, but if I prove to be, not as smart as I feel, that is a flaw I would endure in every lifetime, just for the benifit of Love and Friendship. When "THEY" say, you must love yourself, before you can love another, I like to quote Oscar Wilde, who said "To love thyself is the beginning of a lifelong romance." Take careful consideration to this. When you get to know yourself and I mean, REALLY get to know yourself. You learn not only your darkest fears, but you learn your most powerful comforts. You literally create a world that only exists from within. You are learning and loving yourself into an "inner beauty" so fascinating that modern "entertainments" become nothing more than mere distraction. You become your own best friend. This is the goal and perhaps the key to life. You can be homeless, unwanted, and completley alone in the world (or so it feels in dark hours) and still have a place to run to, when you close your eyes, you're already rich. Now add another person. Who can compete with yourself and know your every move. Every thought. Every intention. Every guilty pleasure. Imagine someone else, who knows you in such a way. What a concept. Its real. You just have to be patient. Take the time to love yourself. I'm not there, but I have an adventure of a lifetime awaiting me. How could I ever fear life, when life can be so beautiful. With this other person...you can see them, touch them. Conversate with them. Educate, learn and lean on them. You will never find that, until you know what you are looking for.

Humanity is at the ****** of connection Connection is plastered to our bones It’s on our wrists dinging reminding us to take our steps that will apparently make us one with nature, it’s latched to our arms so while we are so spent attaching ourselves to nature that we don’t have to attach our phones to our hands, it’s our sun rise, it’s our evening prayer, heck it’s the only thing reminding us to wake up in the morning and connect with these people that we can only reach through these dull technological connections. Facebook says we’re here to help you connect! The Bible app dings remindign you, “keep in check!” You’re surrounded by connection, it immerses you and embraces you with its WiFi streamed arms and blue tinted light But shouldn’t you be embracing the connection? Shouldn’t you be the one to swallow connection? Shouldn’t you be the one to amplify connection? Humanity is at the ****** of connection but we are disconnected.. Shouldn’t the rate of depression fall not rise with every purchase of an iPhone. We are disconnected From ourselves from nature from the spiritual realm and from each other because we connect our souls to these arguable objects of connection. Seems like we need an intervention from connection. Shouldn’t connection flow within our bones and not simply be plastered to it? Connection is around us, but we’re not making the connection

Disconnection
Been a week since the new year arrived at dawn's door Seven sunrises had passed making way for many more Resolutions, wishes, aspirations cast into winds of new days In hopes they'd be carried forth on each dawn's new rays *Let us welcome the fresh air that come Inhale it deep as reminder that we're luckier than some Let us embrace the opportunity of time A privilege bestowed so we could still pen in rhyme Let us cherish the love from family and new found friends Shower upon them the gift of verse that never ends Let us strengthen existing virtual and physical connections Reinforce them with kindness, fortitude and good intentions Let us sieve past experiences that mar us black Dispense with animosity, ill thoughts and considerations that lack Let us trudge forward into the unknown together Hands in hands and hearts to hearts into the unforeseeable future* No matter who you are or where you've been We'll all get our fair share of twenty fifteen We've all been granted if you'd only take advantage In the great book of life, on a fresh, brand new page Do note that this is just ideal advice not so much as a plea I know the journey is long, arduous and never easy I hope these words I've penned would lighten your load Little bites of wisdom (I hope) for the long meandering road I can't promise the rise of the nightly moon But the sun will rise where you are; and it will arrive very soon

Twenty Fifteen
To maintain peace and sound reflexes, Sever every possible type of nexus, With ex’s friends & friends exes, Regardless of their sex's, Above all, consider your cerebral plexus, And know that wounds get infectious, If unhealthy connections are maintained with one’s own exes.

The cardinal rule of Courtship:
Today I stopped to imagine If hindsight were foresight, love languages always matched, and needs were always met If we never hurt each other or let each other down and if distance, time or death couldn’t separate If… If only… How rich and beautiful the tapestry of our connections would be

A perfect world
Sharpened dagger stabbed in her heart, Ripping in two, ripping apart. Took only a few words, but his words out her deep, Stealing emotions, making her weak. Two sided mirror true in reflection, A double edged with a knife cutting connections, Place in her heart forever reserved The one that she loved but didn't deserve. He twisted the dagger, it tore her apart. She stole what was left, she stole a broken heart.
