The wide, bright temple of the world I found,
And entered from the dizzy infinite
That I might kneel and worship thee in it;
Leaving the singing stars their ceaseless round
Of silver music sound on orbed sound,
For measured spaces where the shrines are lit,
And men with wisdom or with little wit
Implore the gods that mercy may abound.
Ah, Aphrodite, was it not from thee
My summons came across the endless spaces?
Mother of Love, turn not thy face from me
Now that I seek for thee in human faces;
Answer my prayer or set my spirit free
Again to drift along the starry places.

let there be you.)

running your hands down your own curves
blind;
the mirrors are all broken here.

it doesn’t matter

is this, for instance.
a pear:

breathe—
celebrate
the words
going upward to the sky and the
strawberry-red hair cascading down
it hungers
(like you)
to touch my back
gently
curl around my shoulders like your cold fingers in January

**** not
skeletal.

let there be
me.

let there be—here is where
the words stop mattering to me—
let there be caramelchocolate skin of sunlit honey tint
melting into itself on the wooden floor
(we all
scream
for ice cream)

titian and
anadyomene me
wringing long wet
raven hair
my legs are covered in salt
sand
once the sea goes dry.

almond eyes
upturned
(angular)

marvel at your own geometry.

lips of salome
drawn upward into a not-yet-smile
(cherubic)

to the women who give their thin
pale bodies
to muscular men with perfect
arms to hold them down:
i am for you.

i
with my

my thighs
scarred by ivory teeth—no.

thighs sculpted by
God himself
don’t you want to make love to me?
doesn’t the world
want to make
love?

love that tastes
more metallic than the blood behind my lips
don’t you want to bite it out?
taste the sweetness behind them?
run your hands over
the elysian fields of my thighs
and the valley between them
don’t you want
my legs slung over your shoulders
don’t you want
your tongue
on my vast skin
sweat made of sugar
and salt.

you want
lips crashed against yours like

eyelashes sweeping your cheeks
you want
don’t you want
me
**** with nothing to cover me but my
blanket of raven hair
for immodesty’s sake!

perhaps
i am (is) small.

A flowing, eventide sky melts like supple ******* feeling the warmth of the spring's embrace.
Effervescent crystals glimmer along the concavity of her body as though it were a fountain's paragon.
Her abalone eyes—kissed by the tide's mist—remain affixed to the sanctified mollusk beneath her.

Perfumed laurels of myrtle frolic through her silky tresses as the droplets of her previous home are blown by Zephyr's breath.

Garments—of a newborn's pink—adorned with roses whisper tales of yearning, whilst golden armlets purr hymns of fervor.

Nacreous regalia drifts ashore like a rhythmic pulse and grant embellishment to the hospitality of the ocean's silt.

Murmurations of Putti flutter their wings into orbit and encircle her milky frame.
Worshippers—of strictly the visionary kind—passionately rejoice over her delicacy.
O resplendent Anadyomene, may she rise amongst the sea foam's orchestra
I wrote this after listening to Violent Dreams by Crystal Castle (Sidewalks and Skeletons Remix). I misheard the lyrics and thought about the imagery of a violet sky. Soon the influence of the goddess of love began to show herself throughout the writing. The famous "The Birth of Venus" painted by Sandro Botticelli was also a major reference. I also made mention to the beautiful painting "The Toilette of Esther" by Theodore Chasseriau. I highly recommend taking a long look at it, it's entrancing!
