Sometimes with the Heart
Seldom with the Soul
Scarcer once with the Might
Few—love at all.
54

If I should die,
And you should live—
And time should gurgle on—
And morn should beam—
And noon should burn—
As it has usual done—
If Birds should build as early
And Bees as bustling go—
One might depart at option
From enterprise below!
’Tis sweet to know that stocks will stand
When we with Daisies lie—
That Commerce will continue—
And Trades as briskly fly—
It makes the parting tranquil
And keeps the soul serene—
That gentlemen so sprightly
Conduct the pleasing scene!
Hush...

spoil not this moment
                                       with the need of words

breath soft upon the pause twixt

                   Laughing
                        and
                    Kissing.

Hold fast and stay your hand
                                                    simply feel me

Here

        within your heart

beating in rhythm with the night.

Wait just a while longer
let the longing overwhelm you

as my lips yet in silence bring you answers

                in one sweet kiss

hush

listen

and hear my words
          unvocalised yet spoken

impressed upon your lips

                FOREVER.
TWO loves had I. Now both are dead,
And both are marked by tombstones white.
The one stands in the churchyard near,
The other hid from mortal sight.

The name on one all men may read,
And learn who lies beneath the stone;
The other name is written where
No eyes can read it but my own.

On one I plant a living flower,
And cherish it with loving hands;
I shun the single withered leaf
That tells me where the other stands.

To that white tombstone on the hill
In summer days I often go;
From this white stone that nearer lies
I turn me with unuttered woe.

O God, I pray, if love must die,
And make no more of life a part,
Let witness be where all can see,
And not within a living heart.

She said, "I thought you liked being alone."

He said, "I also said I like the cold,

But I still shiver."
These photos are a gateway to my memories;
They're the only remnants of things I no longer see:
The twinkling stars at the peak of twilight;
The terrifying tales around a campfire so bright,
The heart melting gaze of my new born brother,
The crash of waves as I build a sand castle with my mother.
And although they are torn and hard to see,
These photos are a gateway to my memories.

Sleep, sleep, my beloved,
without worry, without fear,
although my soul does not sleep,
although I do not rest.

Sleep, sleep, and in the night
may your whispers be softer
than a leaf of grass,
or the silken fleece of lambs.

May my flesh slumber in you,
my worry, my trembling.
In you, may my eyes close
and my heart sleep.

The heart you took,
Stolen in the blink of an eye.
You left me gasping for air,
Praying for your own love,
To come take me away.

The heart you took, my love,
Shattered upon impact.
Broken into a thousand pieces,
Flung into the starry sky,
All alone in the night.

The heart you took,
Smiles a broken smile,
Shows the world no pain.
Pretends that everything is fine.
And it is.

It really is.
It's warm outside
But I'm cold

Where am I?
This is my home
But it doesn't feel the same
It doesn't feel right

Take me away from here
Take me anywhere
Take me away from my life
From my friends
My family
My home

Because my home is with you
Wherever in the world we may be
It doesn't feel right without you
Because everything is cold.
