Ever and Never
Vivien Mar 2010
Ever I have
One choice on my plate
Ever to taste
The cold dish I served to you

Mushroom stew
With nightshade tea
Stinging nettles
And salads of ivy

I'm guilty
I poisoned your glass
I poisoned our past
I murdered you

Don't fret just yet
You've had vengeance
Tenfold retribution
And never is it over

I will ever taste
The sweetest dessert
The icy plate
The meal best served cold

An Acrobat Was I
Vivien Feb 2010
I used to dance with suicide
I used to walk with God
Balanced on the razor's edge
I never thought I'd fall

I was a graceful acrobat
And life was my trapeze
I loved to know I could let go
And end it all with ease

But I looked down and saw a net
And I began to cry
For then I knew my escape route
Had simply passed me by

The Sweetest Flower
Vivien Feb 2010
Honeybee hands
Follow honeybee eyes
Sticky sweet, all for the hive

He snapped her stem,
He plucked her leaves
And died of poison from her thorns

And so she built
Upon his knees
A house for boys to play in
Vivien Feb 2010
I'm trapped in the structure
Of this, that, and the other thing.
I'm bounded by lines
And wrapped up in strings
Your regulations
Stake me to the earth
I may never see
Society's worth.
I'm tired of laws
That do not make sense
I'm sick of these rules
Of white picket fence
Lives, lived
Vicariously
Through those who break rules,
Through those who are free

Green
Vivien Feb 2010
I wish I were green
Or lime or chartreuse
Or really any color but me
So that all that anyone would see
Is that I'm different on the outside
And it wouldn't be so hard to hide
The fact that inside, I long to fly

Oncoming Traffic
Vivien Feb 2010
Headlights, you are beautiful
I do plan to slip into you
Over you and through you

You enchant me like the sunrise
That I may never see
And the flowers that my loved ones
Will never leave for me

Sirens, you are maddening lovely
More as treacherous damsels
Than the klaxons you are

I can't hear you singing
But I know you're not far
Composing your serenade
Over the wreck of my car

Drink Up
Vivien Jan 2010
Wishing on a falling star
How I wonder what you are
Clean cup, clean cup, acid green cup
Take a seat now, darling, drink up

Take a sip, dear, close your eyes
And I'll slip you a sweet surprise
Make a wish, put faith in lies
Just one sip to realize
You're the reason Alice cries

Magic mushroom, ten feet tall
Bad decisions come to call
Flying high for all to see
All because it said "Drink me."

Take a sip, dear, close your eyes
And I'll slip you a sweet surprise
Make a wish, put faith in lies
Just one sip to realize
You're the reason Alice dies

Drink up.
