High fruit on trees
   In easy reach
   Summer's incoming smile
     Running through piled leaves
Faster than the mind thought it could
         Keep:
           Spring
         In memory's solid storage chest
                Inside

I have known the fire
     Of your yes
And the ice of your no
Also known the time when opposites separate
In the silent blaze of up and down
In the rain and wind of the last goodbye
        Do you know the hour
          It's always now
              And enough

I speak your name and it bounces off the room's darkness
   The romance is long over
     Say no long goodbyes
Just take your things and depart
Memories are the only things left
Lingering in the corner of my mind
     Although they break my heart
To every one who asks I smile and say that I'm fine
     Taking a long vacation
Only packing necessities
  Some moonlight walks
        Romantic picnics
           Action packed movies
Cuddling in bed on Saturday mornings
And the sweet  Lingering smell of your clothes
When you were here with me
All of this was left behind

Is it the same love that we're sharing
Or did you simply stop caring
Nothing right seems the same
Looks like love forgot my name
Never was seeking fortune or fame
Just my share of love to claim
     But instead of a wow
     Love forgot my name

We were both divers on the high board
Creeping toward the edge of adventure
Cautious; taking deep breaths of bravery
Very unsure;
Plunging into the unknown of love

Love was just a brief pause
Like holding in your in your breath
A comma at the end of the love sentence
Like looking at the person next to you
Seeing their back going out the goodbye door
The green light of moving along is on
And we transform both of us into strangers again
Departure I dislike the same as you

Love proved to be a never ending lie, you left me alone
With never a moment's hesitancy now my mind is like a scythe
Cutting away in a lonely field of why, we both cut down
The mysterious tree that surrounded our love in life
In our leaving each other were secrets revealed
That caused both to say goodbye
The racing flag shot out: no second place
No third in show, sadness was the take all winner
Now its time for both of us to go
