I won't be satisfied until I make you mine
Come take my hand and let's travel on through time
And if you don't learn to feel like I feel
Just let me turn and walk away
But you really know inside I want to stay
It's hard to calm my nerves when you're in my presence
And I don't want any more of our precious time to pass away
And I want you to know that my feelings as of now will
Remain the same and pray my love will last until my dying day

You didn't buy the grits and gravy that went on your plate
And your shoes were under my table the last meal you ate
And though your loving gives me chills
Honey it never pays any bills
I've grown tired of carrying this heavy load
So mister take all of your stuff and hit the road
Your mama carried you for nine months and I've carried you long enough
Baby its time to you know I won't be buying any more grits and gravy

Living to survive  trying to keep myself alive
Having to always roam in and out of strange foster homes
Looking for two loving hearts of a mom and dad until
That happens  I'll just cry all day and be sad
Won't you bring this child home to our house today
Seen so much pain and suffered so much strife
Won't you take a chance and add me to your life
Reach out your loving hand  let me hold on to you
My dream of having a family only you can make come true
Filled with rising hope inside living to survive
Please let this child alone come to you

Go on now if you're leaving me
Since you seem to delight in my greiving , I'll steel my heart
As you walk out that open door and carry out your things
As I brought them in before
Don't know really what caused our love flame to dye out
When we loved each other it was over the top
But I need to know just when did the loving stopped

I'm dancing as fast as I can get away
From your beatings on my legs and arms you're insecure I say
When we first fell in love you were so handsome
And had such dazzling charm, but oh how over time a romance
Can change, and I wish now inside, I'd never learned your name
Dancing as fast as I can away from the storm of confusion
What I thought was real love was only an illusion
You're certainly not the same man and I'm dancing away alive
While I still can. Dancing away from from movie set dreams
And the partner who never was in this life, who he really seemed
Dancing as fast as I can from all the  pain and sorrow
And into what I hope will be a brighter tomorrow
Dancing as fast as I can

One million voices downtown Philadelphia and around city hall  and
The world repeat: No Justice  No Peace
Ebony men falling like black trees in the streets, police bullets cutting
Them down. Thrown into the back of vans and dying on the way to jail
Police with guilty hands walking away free
Seems that the justice system has failed
Stop and frisk various cities are trying, yet men of color keep on dying
Woe is me, I can't see the end of it , what measures will stop the flood
Of human grief from happening, body cameras on our finest in blue
Show positive proof of deadly truth, yet and still public sorrow
Still takes root, somehow in justice I,m still trying to believe
But with one million voices like mine lifted in cities here
In grief toward the skies, I say woe is me

Don't blame me for wanting to hold you so fast
Don't blame me for wanting each moment here to last
This wonderful new love of ours frees me from loves of the past
So don't blame me
Don't blame me for falling in love with you
Don't blame me for longing to make each dream of yours come true
For now only happiness in your tender arms I see
So please don't blame me
