religion is comfort
to some
religion is kind
to some

religion is pain
to some
religion is rude
to some

religion is uncomfortable
to me
religion is saddening
to me

to be in a church
with people i don't and never will know
a recital, a show
'not religious' they say

and yet the elegant white arches
and the soft red velvet
and the books, so many books
they could be used to educate

and yet the riches of this church
are used for the rich already
and not for the kids
the kids who want to learn
not pray
the kids who want to leave
not stay
i just want to learn piano,
i say

no, 'its not religious'
they always say
if its 'not religious'
then why won't you let me walk away

nothing is a weird thing
because its actually
not a thing
it just is, nothing more
it just isn't, really.

sometimes its empty
and yet it calls
like your warm bed
on a cold morning

sometimes its full
of tears
that


fall


away and
down your skin

sometimes
but very rarely
its not there
like it never happened
like the nothing
its supposed to be

a devil and an angel are both opposites, right?
are you sure?
are you really sure?
they both have too many things
that make them alike

they both have alluring smiles
that make you want
to love somebody
to hate somebody
to befriend an acquaintance
to **** an enemy

they both have beautiful wings
that make you want
to fly away
to burn everything down
to hope for something
to be disappointed when it doesn't happen

but what if they are both one?
then they do all that
they
love
hate
befriend oneanother
**** oneanother
fly to their freedom
burn to their death
have hope
and disappoint each other

and yet
we survive
as humans, you know?
