I've got an invitation to the Boston Tea Party
I'm letting you know in case you want to come with me
I heard from some friends that it's going down in history
Don't think about it twice
Just say yes

Whoa! Uh oh!
No taxation without representation
Whoa! Uh oh!
These patriot's they know how to show a good time.
Whoa! Uh oh!
What Georgie gonna think when he wakes up in the morning?
Pass me the quill, dear Hancock.

Thomas Jefferson, he has got a way with words
He really makes you believe that this dream's gonna work
(Maybe if you forget that these Brits rule the world)
I'll sign the declaration
It's all I have left to believe in

Whoa! Uh oh!
Paul Revere he says the British are coming!
Whoa! Uh oh!
Can't you hear, the belfry's bells are ringing
Whoa! Uh oh!
Pick up guns we're off to Lexington
Hoofbeats are flying out to the night.

Wait.
Here I stand.
At this Battle of Bunker Hill.
Stop.
Close your eyes.

What happend to our sanity?
Civility?
Humanity?

(It went out the door with our freedom.)

Whoa! Uh oh!
We don't need a King we have our own voices
Whoa! Uh oh!
Life and Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness
Whoa! Uh oh!
Save the date, July 4th 1776
US of A, it's independence.
I wrote these intentionally as lyrics to a rock song, but I felt that they were clever enough to be also considered as a poem.  I wrote this during the Revolutionary War portion of my history class.  I'm a real history nerd :D

your heart was once sealed
kept behind a metal shield
until something beautiful came into your life
it is the reason you are still alive

music gives you what words cannot
and for some reason- my heart it caught
how it relates to your situation
it united all the nations

and to know someone else is going through the same thing
oh how it can be so comforting
and when things go wrong
just sit and sing a blissful song
Music has always been my life. It helps me through all the rough times. and with music it makes it a lot easier.

The poison drips from my mind,
The poison hurts people inside,
The poison you may never find,
The poison I continue to hide.

Melt-away girl,
I don’t want to watch you go.
You’ve slipped between my fingers
One too many times.
I hate to watch your heart break.
I wish I could breathe life into your broken spirit
Instead of having to see you
Melt away
With the next betrayal
Each new set of bullying youths
Or scarring untruths.
It hurts me beyond hurt that
I cannot be there to stop them
When they treat you so badly.
I can do nothing but hold you,
Melt-away girl,
Trying to show you that
There is still love in the world.
I am too young, too powerless,
To do anything but adore you
Adopt you as my kin
Remind you that your world may be shattered
But you may also be somebody’s world.
Unfortunately, I am not enough to always offer escape.
I am just one.
And I must watch each time you evaporate
My sister sans blood,
My melt-away girl.
I wrote this late at night while thinking about a very dear friend who's like a sister to me, and who has been going through some extremely hard things lately.

As I dozed
The man I love
Appeared, so
It is dreams that
Have begun to comfort me.

surrendering carbon to carbon

shedding this shell
dna to grass

dust to dust

carbon extentions keep on growing

the world keeps spinning

today it feels so slow

if life is dust, mist, nothing
then
let me cross that river

don't build me a bridge

give me a millstone and rope

i'll die that death, then
carry me to the table
bring me to the place
where I can gaze on nothing else

Your Crown. Your Eyes. Your Scars. Your Face. Your Love. Your Eternity.

nothing less

dying that death feels like life

feels like truth

feels like home

feels like breathing for the first time

-in and out, in and out-

every breath is a second chance

to say I love You

to say I need You

to say I want You

to say I'm Yours

to say nothing at all

-in and -"thank You"

finally evergreen
now, pass the milk and honey
