A Poem: The Tongue

A little member it is
Caged inside a-32-gate with lips
Made only by the Unique Creator
It's use has numerous gladiators

It helps in food digestion
But it's harm can cause ejection
It has a gate without padlock
Only God holds it in His Handlock

Attitude is what fast tracks or slows down it's movement
In some, who find it's harm a good pavement
Who delight in using it to destroy
In them does foolishness employ

The fruit of the heart is what it looks at
When enunciating, devilish and heart breaking lines in part
Expecting exaltation, they progress in it's pit of degradation
Blinded by wickedness, they backstab without a good conscience visitation

It is also useful to preach
But only for those whose tongues God has made a breach
Limiting it from destroying as it ought to
Take your tongue to Him and things will turn around auto

It is used by men and women
But how it is used lives in attitudes rumen
It sets ablaze and brings together the peace that has been for long
The special, reddish, U- shaped, beautiful tongue.

My first duet

Daniel and Desire

A Poem: Sanity

(Daniel)
Where has morality gone?
In the pit of money it's gone
This generation has lost its sanity
Oh! Who would bring back integrity?

(Desire)
Integrity! Isn't that the most strangest word today?
In a world where corruption fights corruption
In a world where morality has been misinterpreted
And humanity turned upside down

(Daniel)
Integrity has been swept under the carpet of popularity
Honesty has now been replaced with currency
Oh! Chinua Achebe prophesied this in his heart
Things indeed are fallen apart

(Desire)
I come from a unique specie
Where the head blames the leg for not walking fast
And the legs blame the head for not calculating fast
Where the blame game is now the order of the day

(Daniel)
Nakedness is now a norm
Immorality has taken a new form
Even in the Sanctuary it is done
The fear of God has now gone

(Desire)
Sanity has become a long gone word
Insanity has become a watchword
Doing things rightly has turned sour, I too delight in the insanity
To be a good person, no go make yawa no burst.

AN ODE TO POETRY

Older than the ones after
More beautiful are your cluster
You teach me the only way to catharsis
Penning down everything in meiosis

Today the world respects you
Thy inspiration and the honor that is due you
In criticism, correction, exposition and ecstasy
You've finally become my fantasy

I thought thee to be a hard nut
But thy exposition has tied us with a knot
Keeping me under thy tutorship
Oh! Thy beauty is worth the worship

In parables sometimes thou art written
To confuse the amateur with meanings hidden
Thy love is in between my knees I confess
You've given me this prowess.

POEM TITLE: Are you still there?

Born into a planet out of galaxies
Borne out of the need for a heir not levities
I see myself in a great despair
Are you still there?

When the reason for my living is questioned
And my heart in sorrow deepened
When my life sees no air
Are you still there?

My joy is short-lived sorrows overwhelming
Tears overflowing my heart rejects calming
Situations around me remained unfair
Are you still there?

Poverty is becoming a pandemic
My hard work fruitless and anaemic
Yet needs at me stare
Are you still there?

I searched for love but I found it scarce
Marriage to me became a farce
In a family where love is rare
Are you still there?

When the "Why" gets too much
And I begin to loose hope at such
I just couldn't figure out where
Are you still there?

Truth it is you are Almighty
But when the "Why's" become so mighty
And the tears no hand can clear
Are you still there?

Powers exist but a fictional book tells us
A supreme being is the strongest and precious
When powers seem to stare
Are you still there?

When thoughts of death flood upon my head
And depression over takes me on my bed
When hope is no more there
Are you still there?

When love is sought for and found minute
And my heart couldn't negligence dilute
When love seems not to be near
Are you still there?

A Poem: If this is Love

If this is just a feeling, I can't tell
If it's infatuation, I can't spell
But one thing keeps ringing deep down in me
That, if this is Love, then I'm the happiest me

I know I may not be perfect
I know I may not be able to write you a tercet
But please don't forget that I still love you
When that word, love, is preached your memory comes to mind anew

I'm out of words to describe your steadfastness
I dream of your beautifully coloured goodness
I refuse to accept this as infatuation
It's vivid, it's evident and needs no investigation

If this is Love, then I pray it comes true
This one is above my Achilles heel I tell you
It's as if our encounter should never die
I've been hiding this, my Dear I would not lie
