His Daughter
A speck on the glass a reflection  of someone I knew
once ago when the world was still  and so bran new
I was a chit of the future tilting her wings to the sky
a babe with living to do before learning to fly ;
Mirrored to the image of God
I was often considered odd
a druid with fingers of sod
arriving, each time I was  called
A citizen of the earth with knowledge beyond compare
I always knew the world belonged to the birds of the air
far removed from the present, I lived in the future
by the scry of a rock and the cry of an eagle's demure
Reflector of light,  refracted conduit
an alter full of candlelight,
a woman of air, water, fire, Spirit
I looked into God's eyes and knew for certain who I was .

Those We Love
"Those we love don't go away they walk beside us every day"

Years may come and years may go
still the memory of her scent still flows
"I'm praying in an angel, just for you"
she'd say then whisper, "I love you"

Echoes of her love still stir in me
beneath the silent hush of her carefree
The story of our lives , cache of gold
hidden in my chest, never to grow old

Years may come and years may go
she walks beside me every day.
Those we love don't go away,
inside our hearts they always stay.
Never had I heard a flutter so clear!
nor more distinct than the settle of midnight wings;
                    Soft gray wings spreading, fanning
coming to a gentle fold,
soon to follow, a nightingale's song,
                           lilting the air.
Such a blessed union is rare!
Light and dark shadows tranquilly sharing space
One perfect moment  seemingly forgiving,
the gentle harmonious embrace,
                          of bird and sky !
Never have I felt so powerful against the night !
no more indefinite than a feather in the wind.
My heart beating slow as time
comes to a standstill before the soft caress
                     of a nightingale in flight!
Chiaroscuro moments on the soul
oh how I wish that I had wings
to fly and meet him in mid air....
never had I heard a flutter so clear nor a song
                         so very dear to me...
The End.

Oh My Soul
Where do you come from little rose of blush
you, who was never owned by anyone but me
oh singing bird of thrill how easily you shush
when conscience leaves my side I am not free
When guilt devours me whole you go in hiding
like a wounded child that often goes to play
oh litigator of my heart I was born consigning
to life's  passions, as they happened me away
Whence forth  this solid mind I will constrain
from thinking out of line for sake of heart
oh soul of beauty please forgive my reign
in my old age I realize, what is your part
You,  are the part of me that makes me whole
the conscientious side of me, oh,  my soul!

Then, I Saw The Light
Too many years spent in depression buried beneath a pile of regrets
pills of every color aside my glass, cuts of every size scabs included
Broken pieces of my heart scattered from Newfoundland to Toronto
I had forgotten the taste of content and the sound of chattering friends

They tried to help me by taking me to therapy but I cried myself to sleep
every time I spoke to him, about my childhood pain and the awful abuse
One day I decided to go visit an old chapel that kept their side door open
this kind woman let me in and ushered me into a back pew then left

I felt a rush of panic,  all I wanted was to run but then I began to talk
the words spilled out of my heart, onto a crucifix of pewter and gold
I told him all my secret fears and all the things my mind struggled with
gazing upon that cross I suddenly realized that he'd been broken too

On a crumpled piece of paper I scratched out three words " I choose life "
then I left the chapel door open and walked out into the sun, alive...
Its not like I cured myself all at once it took time, but I finally did it
one day at a time , first I crawled, then I walked, then I saw the light

TRUMP
Quote by: Blue Sapphire
"One can only give what one has, be it love or be it hate !"

Where do we place that cup of hate when love's bitter pill,
has been swallowed?
How do we move back into love when all is dead and gone?
Do we fold our cards and peacefully accept
or do we play the wild card of hate and send
resentful snakes slithering down the path of a broken life....
Where do we find the courage to love again after hate
has devoured our sense of compassion and taken away
the virtue of forgiveness?
One can only give what one has, so will it be hate of love
that wins over, in the end.
It's your card game so let me know if you decide to fold
or Trump it !

Circles

Dancing on the steps of time
remembering when you were once mine
Water color visions of a life
         that we once had...
Together at the edge of heaven
                   we soared like winged birds.
Circular light surrounded us
              round and round we went,
swimming like two swans
lost in a vortex of water and air ...
A subtle touch and breath
one fingered caress and suddenly,
we began more  then less  !
Then one day you went away
and I was left alone drawing circles in the sand.
I tried to touch the stars of yesterday
but as I waited by the sea,  you never returned.
Blinking away the tears I turned to leave
but then I heard you say, "stay "
So I sat by the ocean and watched the sun go down
for I did not have the courage to walk away,
nor did I have the strength to whisper
to your shadow,
                 "FAREWELL"   my love "FAREWELL"

Her Crystalline Laughter
The soul would have no rainbow if the eyes had no tears. —Native American proverb

Waterfall beauties shedding crystalline tears
an indigo vision an outpour of emotion
she thought she was loved by him,
wherever did she get that notion?
In the beginning it was love at first sight
but then when they fought it never showed
like the stars that disappeared in the sky
it slowly began to die ;
Years later when she found real love
the kind that watered the roots of her soul
she finally learned the truth about
the inns of Love;
Waterfall beauties shedding tears of happiness
both were wet but these ones dried quickly,
to the sound, of her crystalline laughter.

LOVE
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1R8nJSe8Jb0

I cannot tell you what love is for it is not tangible like cement
but I can tell you this, you cannot beg for it borrow it nor rent
I never did quite figure out what makes it come what makes it go
one thing I know for sure is this, when I near it I begin to glow

Love is not an easy word to whisper in the thick of angered rage
nor is it something you can slip between the lines of a written page
Love is to be lived without devour from patience to understanding
you need to treat it like gold, if its to be your Lancelot of everlasting

I could never pin the moment of love's conception nor when it died
but the one thing I did realize with age is this, if its real its bona fide
if life is a gift, love is the all enduring essence of all that is good in me
and I cannot imagine giving it to someone, without giving it for free

I cannot tell you what love is for sure, but I can tell you its all I need
love is a two sided sword, it makes you happy or it makes you bleed
I never did quite figure out what makes it come what makes it go
but one thing I know for sure is this, when I near it I begin to glow.

LUMINOUS STARS
MORNING HAS BROKEN OVER THE HORIZON TODAY
GATHERING THE STARS OF YESTERDAY
SOFTLY LANDING ON MY PATIO THE FEATHERDUSTED
MEMORIES OF THEIR SHINE BECOME EVENING LIGHT;
MOONBEAMS APPEAR  AND MYSTERIES GATHER ROUND
I QUESTION GODS METHODS BUT OH I NEVER DOUBT
THAT HIS MERCY AND LOVE CAN GET ME THROUGH
ANOTHER DAY ANOTHER NIGHT ...
DUSK HAS SEVERED MY FEARS , TAKEN ME HOME
TO WHERE THE WILD HORSES RUN
I LOSE MYSELF IN THE MOMENTUM OF TIME AND RETRACE
MORNING HAS BROKEN OVER THE HORIZON ONCE AGAIN
GATHERING THE LUMINOUS STARS OF YESTERDAY.

The Water Nymph
A water nymph glides beneath still waters
and as time lapses I sigh and wait
by rivulets and ripples God breathes me in
all senses are to freedom for sake of
beauty / grace....
Oh water nymph what do I know
about the peaceful ways of you?
Standing still in motion by your habitat
with longing in my heart....
You make the waters dance of their own accord
lore has it you never left this place of servitude
Holding space you honor the river
with not a hair in place;
Oh water nymph, please receive me in
before I disappear without a trace...

Must Love Dogs
I may not be so popular with the comments and the views
and although I never make the front liners nor the news
the one thing I do know is this I got friends that are true

They know to find my page and send me my heart's gage
even if I didn't win a contest nor cause the latest rage
I dislike gossip and fake people and yes, I love to sage

I don't evaluate myself by the amount of likes dislikes
preferring Cinderella's stage coach over shiny motorbikes
I don't sit in the cinders and take pleasure in the spikes

I'm an ordinary poet who loves to write about this and that
very private with my sort so I won't say where I hang my hat
and if you really must know, I love dogs more then I love cats.

YOGI DEVOTEE

Life is delicate and vulnerable right now but if we realize that
we are made of tough string, we can hold together each day,
and help others do the same. (breathe )
There is silence, there is light, there is music, there is grace
there are people, and then there is life.
Come share a few moments with me, assemble your breath and
expel out, the things that do not serve you (breathe)
Abundant as you are, you can always share charity with those
who need it most,. No matter how cold the weather this time
of year, your hearts can always kindle the flame of love with
just one spark, if you practice loving kindness every day (breathe)
Come away with me to the other side of the world where the
stars are luminous and the deep sea ocean is waiting for you,
and your silent thoughts.
Life is delicate and vulnerable but you, as salt of the earth
will always be part of the waters of human compassion,
enter into communion with your soul, and include all sentient
beings into your heart. Yes do your part and be blessed,
my dear yogi devotee.

Saffron Hill
Miles away from home where the sun is on fire with yesterdays dreams
an Indian sari gown of silk and bead arrives  bending the wind to its  will
warm rain and saffron tinted skies caress gold eyelids and irises of old
Miles away from home the strings of my guitar recall Indian streams
and warm walks on the beach. A faint song  clings to her ghostly figure
like a lyrical refrain, while a fading light begins to lose its shine ....
August smiles still simmer on my mind ,  I was a young man in love
with a Princess who cradled my heart to the rocking motion of the moon;
She took me to Saffron Hill, then flowered me with poetry, oh what a thrill
to be so close to the sun and not to burn from the throws of her quill ...
Miles away from home I felt the power of her light and then she was gone,
like the monsoon rains of India, she disappeared in September leaving me
to strum my guitar in a Cincinnati bar, watching neon lights light up,
I told it to old Fred , but he just smiled at me and handed me
a saving thread , "Son,  you'll always have your memories"
then he handed me another Sangria, the color of her swiveling dress.
