I write a poem of days gone by
I wrote a poem the black of sky
I write a poem of me of now
I wrote a poem when
I write goodbye
Julie Aug 2021
Grief, we know it comes in time
Let’s not think when the bells chime
Bang, the grey dooms
No sound I hear too soon

Grief, let’s write the stars away
When all the world, gone today
Moving round when day begins
No sound I hear as birds to sing

Grief, go back and stand the seat within
To watch the door to open thin
No light will heat your body safe
No sound I hear, your be ok

There’s times that stop
And there’s times that move
No tick or tock
forget me
Not

There’s times that walk
And there’s times that tread
No patter of fast
forget me
Gasp

There’s times that listen
And there’s times that silence
No spoken heard
forget me
Words

visions are what to hold
In every wake of morning cold
Eyes tight,  the sting of told
Whenever, whatever
beholds

Ask today
Hands I pray
Forgotten bay
Stones to lay

Ask tomorrow
Questions borrow
Given echo
Tide to sorrow

Ask yesterday
Breeze away
Dove of grey
Silence to say

Let’s try a poem
No hidden verse
No rhyming
Words showing

Let’s try to write
Deep within
No thinking
Stripped thin

Let’s try to open
From a to c
Begin one word
Silence spoken

Throw back the warmth
of teaching hands
Return once more forgotten land
Inside the strength
clench so tight
Regain to open the palms
to sight

As heat begins to rise once more
Stand back no holding core
Stretch to touch
Clouds across
And breathe
the sound of loss
