You started fighting the Cancer battle 2 years ago
No matter how sick you felt, you never let it show
Chemo and radiation treatments every week
You just want to feel better, relief is what you seek
But your body is tired, the Cancer is winning
You put up a heroic fight from the very beginning
At 17 years old God called you home
Family by your side, made sure you weren?t alone
Surrounded by love they hope you would feel
The pain and grief of your loss is all too real
No more suffering, no more pain
Tears begin to fall, just like rain
You will always be remembered for your spirit and smile
The pain will be there for a very long while
You are now an angel in heaven
Watching us from above
We pray to you and send all our love

Another year over, time has flown

Another year to see how my kids have grown

Strong and independant, I've taught them to be

To think for themselves, their minds are free

I sit back and watch them fall down

They continue to always get up of the ground

It's  time for them to find their way

They will always have a place to stay

Another year over, time has flown

My husband and I on our own

We look back and say we did our best

Now it's time for some rest

Im looking for a place to belong

Been looking and looking for so long

Want to learn and expand my mind

Want to help people, I am always kind

Always looking to find inner peace

One day it will happen, I believe

Looking for a place to belong

Still looking, its been so long

I have always been on the outside looking in

How to change that?, don't know where to begin

Take the first step, time to change

Going to a new place, feels so strange

Looking for a place to belong

I may have found it!! that place

Where there is a smile on my face

I found that place to belong

As I lay me down to sleep
Pray the lord my soul to keep
A beautiful prayer always said
You are off fighting a war instead
I lay here a lone thinking of you
Alone in a place with friends far and few
Say your prayers before patrol
Come back alive is your only goal
As I lay me down to sleep
Pray the lord my soul to keep
Bring him home safe to me
Let him fight for innocents to be free
Back from patrol still in one piece
I continue to pray for the war to cease
One day soon you will come home
So I don’t have to lay here a lone.
As I lay me down to sleep
Pray the lord my soul to keep
You heard my prayer and he is home
Thank you God I am not a lone

Helmet on top, rifle stuck in the ground, boots at its base

So much sadness on their faces

Dog tags hang with names of the lost

***** boots to show their final walk

Young men who paid to high of cost

Friends kneel before them to say goodbye

So sad to see grown men cry

Battlefield cross shows honor and respect

So their buddies never forget

The cross lets their friends mourn

As "Taps" is played on the horn

"Fallen but not forgotten" some memorials say

Many soldiers live to fight another day

"As my brothers did for me" one tattoo said

One saying I will never get out of my head

Battlefield Cross a symbol no soldier forgets

Imaginary shapes in the clouds above
Birds on a wire looks like a dove
Warm breeze blowing on a summer day
Beautiful blue skies a gorgeous day
Planes flying high up in the sky
so for away you only hear them
Picking flowers by their stems
waiting to see them grow again
Colors rich and bright
Such a beautiful site

they make you forget about everything wrong
Stress and anxieties go away helps your mind become strong
Flowers blooming once again
I continue to pick them by the stems
Purple, red, orange and white
Colors of my delight
Flowers brighten up my room what a site
what a gorgeous way to end my day

Looking over the meadow everything so green
Its all so serene
Flowers and trees move in the wind
Who knows what we may find
I breath deep all the fresh air
Not a single worry or care
I take a deep breath and close my eyes
Then I raise my head to the sky
Sunshine feels wonderful on my face
I will return to this place
I take a deep breath one last time
Before the lunch bell chimes
Now its time to go
Return to the work flow
I dream of when we return
only to breath that fresh air again
teresa nicastro Jan 2018
I step outside in the dark to early morning breezes
I stop, close my eyes and take a deep breath
Dark clouds in the night sky, the sun is still asleep
Birds start to wake, leaves starts to ruffle
The morning is almost near.
I love morning breeze, everything is so nice and cool
Fall is officially here.
Halloween and Thanksgiving will soon appear.
Cool breezes blow, winter will soon be here
Hot chocolate and marshmallows I love this time of year.
Bundle up warm, its about to get cold
I like to be warm Im getting way to old.
Cool breezes blowing throughout the night
I will be able to leave my windows open so I can sleep tight.
Leaves fall to the grown as breezes blow
There are leaves to rake and grass to mow.
Breezes blow , temperatures drop, I love this time of year

Chasing dreams in the night
Powerful thoughts with lots of fight
Dreams of space and time
Imagination wanders as I unwind
Fairies and unicorns in my world
Things I always dreamed of as a young girl
Dreams keep you going to the next day
Often help you find your way
Flying Pegasus carries me
High in the sky, feeling so free
Chasing dreams in the night
Dream warrior ready to fight
Darkness comes to my world, things begin to fade
Feelings of wakefulness begins to invade
Morning sun, in my window shining bright
Closing my eyes wishing it was night
Chasing dreams

The choices you made were your own

Our friendship has ended, your now alone

I will never regret the choices I've made

Good things for you I have often prayed

I made the choice to walk away

Your coldness towards me I won't stay

You will never see how you broke my heart

No regret for the choices I made from the start

I often pray that your heart will change

I hate our friendship has become estranged

You made the choice to be alone

The choice is your to pick up the phone

No more hoping and waiting, time to move on

My heart is heavy now, our friendship is gone

I will never regret the choices I've made

Sadness remain if I stay

Choices so hard, tears begin to fall

What do I do? But wipe the tears and stand tall.
teresa nicastro Sep 2018
The choices I've made are my own

Not anyone elses, but mine alone

Friendships and aquaintances come and go

Choices I've made, have helped me grow

I have to move forward in my life

I'm a friend, lover, mother and wife

I often look back and question myself

Time to put the past on the shelf

We've all made choices that aren't right

Believe in yourself, keep up the fight

I often miss the good old days

My childhood friends often amaze

May not talk for months on end

Because of my choices, we will always be friends

Colors of the earth, so beautiful and serene
Reds,Blues, browns and greens
Ocean so blue and in places so clear
Standing and enjoying things from the peer
Mountain ranges that reach the sky
Some higher than helicopters fly
All types of trees blanket the earth
Seedlings planted awaiting their birth
Creatures of the earth roaming free
So many , enjoy the earths beauty
Colors of the earth, beauty so grand
Covers so much of the land
Light brown, dark brown sands of the earth
Creatures of the sands hide and give birth
Desert sands, dunes so many
Shine in the desert sun, almost like a brand new penny
Colors of the earth remain beautiful and serene
Reds, blues, browns and greens

Days Past
I look at old pictures of high school friends
Wondering if I will ever see them again
Remembering days past
I thought we had such a blast
Until the day I learned how you really felt
That was definitely a hit below the belt
I thought we could tell each other anything
Boy was I wrong
I felt so hurt and wondered why
For a long time I would just cry
Adults we now are
I'm sure in life you have gone far
Remembering days past I smile
I know it's been a while
It makes me sad, I was so naive
I guess I didn't want to believe
But I am older now and have moved on
I guess I should let by-gones be by-gones
teresa nicastro Sep 2017
I lay down at night and close my eye
Dreams fill my mind
I have wings flying through the sky
There are no others of my kind
Feeling free as I dance through the air
No angry thoughts, not even a care
Dragons and Pegasus race with me
Flying fast, flying free
These are my dreams that make me smile
yes, its been a while
Rainbows shoot across the sky
I love this free to fly
Green meadows fill this world
Fairies, unicorns colors swirled
the handle of my dagger pearled
Am I their protector or just passing through
This is my dream, what do I do?
Dreams begin to fade
Body starts to wake
This must be a mistake
This is a dream I wish was real
My eyes open to morning light
That dream was so surreal
I want to return to that place tonight
teresa nicastro Oct 2017
Echos of silence throughout the night
Sleeplessness puts up a fight
Billions of stars blanket the sky
So far away I wish I could fly
The face of the moon watching the night
Peacefulness waiting for morning light
Crickets sing their night time song
Powerful voices loud and strong
Echos of silence as I close my eyes
My imagination begins to fly
Takes me to a place no one has been
Distant lands with battles to win
Castles and unicorns in my world
Dreams since I was a little girl
Echos of silence drift away
Daylight comes to begin the day

Faces in the mountain looking down at me

Mother natures magic for all to see

I look at the face and its watching me

Colors of the earth so rich and alive

Animals of the lands eat to survive

Mother natures magic an amazing site

Her anger can give such a fright

Death and destruction the earth will heal

New magic, she will soon reveal

Colors of the earth, browns, reds and greens

Crystal blue waters it's a beautiful dream

Faces in the mountain looking down at me

Mother natures magic for all to see

It’s my turn to find my way
I’m the one who has the say
I used to be fun loving and free
I have to find what used to be me
Feelings neutral and numb
I sit and watch the rise of the sun
I need to find my way to who I used to be
I want to find the happy in me
So so sad it’s not there
Life is often so unfair
I will find my way to that happy place
One day there will be a smile on my face
Find my way to a new me
Happy and hopefully carefree

God called you home during the night

Before you left you put up a real good fight

You fought long and hard, you did your best

No more pain, your soul is at rest

You sit next to your creator, looking upon the world

Watching over your grandchildren and your girls

We are sad and miss you everyday

Your soul and spirit are free, as I pray

God called you home, during the night

Even after you left us your spirit fights

We will be together again one day
teresa nicastro Jan 2020
Its your time to rest God called you home
We are glad you were not alone
It was your time to join your love
We pray to you, in heaven above
You are our angel, and always will be
Our hearts are sad, but your soul is free.
So many memories of our early years
Brings sad smiles and tears.
We pray to you in heaven above
You are in our hearts forever love

Heaven awaits an angel above

At its gold gates with open arms and love

Your spirit is free, your soul flies high

Why you left so soon, so many ask why

Your body is at peace, no more pain

One more angel, heaven has gained

There will be sadness and tears will fall

You be missed, and loved by all

As we look to the sky, your smiling down

I close my eyes and see an angel with a crown

In my prayers and heart you will be

You will always be a  guardian angel to me

Here comes summer, time for fun

Here comes summer, fun in the sun

Go to the beach and play in the sand

Or sitting by the pool, with drink in hand

Time to relax and enjoy the sun

Here comes summer, time for fun

Clear blue skies, beautiful day

Vacation time, Im on my way

Forget about life for awhile

Mind is free, makes me smile

Crystal blue waters, beaches white sand

Vacation paradise oh so grand

See it on post cards, Now Im here

Waves crashing on the beach is all I hear

Thoughts are free, I close my eyes

Take a deep breathe, face to the sky

Here comes summer

Standing on the street corner holding a sign

Please, anything helps even a dime

***** body, hair and ragged clothes

Wondering if they will eat today, no one knows

Holding a sign, such a lost soul

What happened to them? Life out of control

Alcohol,Drugs, often the case

Can't find a way to a safe place

Sleeping on the streets, which ally for the night

Back against the wall, ready to fight

Hit rock bottom, with no help in sight

Give themselves to God with all their might

Standing on the street corner holding a sign

Praying for just one person to be kind

Standing on a street corner

I am numb, I am sad
I am angry, I am mad
I continue to ask why
So much I want to cry
You want to be close
You always make things grandiose
I am numb, I am sad
I am angry, I am mad
Why do you hide things?
I know Karma will sting
The truth will prevail
My faith will not fail
I am numb, I am sad
I am angry, I am mad

I found a place I can feel free

Words on paper, no one judges me

It may not make sense, what I say

But at least I can write my troubles away

Thoughts, emotions, and feelings in my mind

My new poetry friends are all so kind

Words of kindness, love and support

Even if my poems seem to fall short

I found a place I can feel free

My imagination often overcomes me

Far off lands with castles and knights

The good guy always wins the fight

I found a place that I feel safe

Writing words brings me to my happy place

A place  where no one judges me

Wandering mind, freedom to feel

Nothing to prove, so my pain can heal

I found a place
teresa nicastro Jun 2018
I lose myself in words of a book

Not lifting my head, no need to look

I lose myself in stories told

Reading words of stories so bold

Fantasy adventures things kids only dream

Far off lands, night time and moon beams

I lose myself to escape real life

Tension so thick, can cut it with a knife

I lose myself in words of a book

To a place I don't care how I look

No judgement passed, no constant stares

Lost in a book, I don't care

Anxieties fade, I feel relaxed

My mind unwinds, my body collapses

Comfy spot curled up in my bed

Warm under the covers, pillow under my head

Page after page, one chapter left

Feeling sleepy book on my chest

Couldn't make it to the end I did my best

Visions of things in my mind

My imagination flows to unwind

Different shapes in the clouds I see

Wandering mind I feel so free

Books I read, lost in time

Elves, and Knights all so kind

Distant castles that stand so tall

Kingdoms safe behind the wall

Lost in stories about aliens in space

Me dreaming of going to that place

My imagination soars during stories I read

Battles with dragons, demons gold and greed

Visions of things in my mind

Imagination flows to unwind

So many thoughts racing through my mind
Looking for an enemy we cannot find
Inch by Inch, step by step
The enemy is behind that door I bet
Rifles ready, aim is sharp
I don’t want to hear an angels harp
Sweeping for mines, explosions I fear
My friend is dead, something I don’t want to hear
Inch by Inch, step by step
Close my eyes and picture my kid’s footsteps
Foreign eyes watch and stare
US soldiers died for them, they don’t care
They needed our help and no we are here
But I think we are the ones in fear
Inch by Inch, step by step, another house clear
Close my eyes and thank god I am still here
Down the steps and out the door
Bullets firing, hit the floor!!!
Can’t see where or how far
That bullet wound is going to leave a scar
Inch by Inch, I crawl on the ground
Listening for the enemies sound
Whispering voices I can’t understand
US soldiers need to make a stand
Inch by Inch, stone by stone
Continuously facing the unknown

I sit here alone and think about the past
Volunteering with you, we had a blast
Talking about life, you helped me grow
You were sad, you never let it show
My best friend and second mom you came to be
we talked about boys and what not to do
Any crisis you pulled me through
I wish would have repaid
I grew up and moved away
My heart breaking as I drove away
Time to start a new part of my life
Issy, you dealt with so much pain and strife
Fifteen years later I found you again
Picking up like old friends
Smiles comes to my face
Together again, we found our happy place
Then my heart sank one day
A message of a very sad day
You were sick in a very bad way
Prayers to you in heaven, no more pain
many thoughts of you still remain
I miss you Issy my friend

Your journey home has begun

Your fight is over, battle won

Gave your life to protect our freedom

Gave your life to give us peace

Your soul journeys to heaven

Honor your memory white doves released

Military honors well deserved

With so much pride you chose to serve

Your journey home to your final resting place

Will all the care, honor and grace

Always remembered for the sacrifice you made

The high price so many soldiers have paid

Your journey home is now done

Final resting place with green grass and sun

Watching over us from heaven above

Feeling all of your families love

Journey Home

Last one to be picked for a team
Last one to be asked to see a movie on the big screen
Always wondered what I am doing wrong
Used to playing by myself and listening to songs
Far from the prettiest girl in school
I never played by there rules
Not skinny enough or had perfect hair
Just wanted some friends who were fair
Finally asked to the prom by a guy
2 weeks later he said goodbye
Last to be asked to the big dance
All I ever wanted was a chance
Guess I will last in everything I do
Another rough patch to get through
Often wondered why people couldn't see me for who I am
I'm not looking for attention or pulling a scam
I guess the answers I will never find
Just want people to see to be honest and kind
Last One

Soldier leaves to go to war
Smiles as he walks out the door
"Will leave the light on for you daddy til you come home"
Remember your never alone
His child hugs him goodbye
He tries so hard not to cry
"I drew a picture for you daddy so you won't forget"
It was a house with the light on and his child outside
His heart his breaking inside
Taking a break from patrol
Looking at his childs picture while sitting in a hole
Closes his eyes, he can see the light
Renewed his strength to never give up the fight
Battles won, its time to go home
As he pulls up to his house he see the light on
Tears fill his eyes, and a smile comes to his face.
The light on I come home to my happy place

As young kids we were so naive
Whatever someone told you
You would believe
People grow up and apart
I wish I would have known that from the start
I was always alone
I never fit in
Was always the one picked last in gym
Over the years you see what your old friends have done
Some have succeeded, others have failed
Some have hit the open trail
I look back at that time and wish things could have been better.
Sometimes I wish I could write those people letters
I would say to the bullies
You have not won!!!
I am skinnier now and I do not weigh a ton
I have succeeded in life, I am on my second career
What have you done in the past year?
Looking back on my life , it made me who I am
I learned how to take a stand
Looking back, I'm glad I am who I am

Lost in time I find my dreams

Open my eyes nothing is what it seems

Daydreams come few and far between

I see myself in fields of green

Far off places, no car can find

Place of peace, persons so kind

Peaceful lakes and blankets of trees

Green pastures as far as the eye can see

Lost in time I find myself

Back from when I put my life on a shelf

Almost grown my children are

Goals they set, they will go far

Lost in time, the older I become

Maybe now its time for fun

Putting everyone else before me

Now it's time for my spirit to be free

I close my eyes my imagination soars

So many things for me to explore

In my life I want so much more

Families hold dog tags of loved ones lost

Fought for our freedom with pain and great cost

Families and friends keep memories alive

Watching from heaven pray their buddies survive

Gone but not forgotten forever they'll be

No more hurt, souls and spirits are free

We say their names in our  prayers

Forever in our hearts, they'll always be there

Battlefield cross, no soldier wants to see

Dog tags of friends, it could've been me

Their heads hang low as they pray

No one knows really what to say

They all kiss their dog tags and cry

Raise their heads to heaven GOODBYE!!

Search a place where the enemy hides.
Hearing the cries of children scared.
Bullets begin flying through the air.
Praying they don't hit me, God I'm scared.
My buddies hit the ground.
I yell" Keep your heads down!!!"
Explosions all around.
People screaming, what a sound.

There's nothing we can do but stay down.
Faces planted in the ground.
Help is coming, I hear it overhead.
I pray "God I don't want to be dead"
Machine guns firing, so we can fight back!!
Guns firing Rat, tat, tat.
My buddies screaming time to fall back.
Have to leave before another attack.

Helicopters land so you can leave.
Running so hard, can barely breathe.
I fought for my life today.
Tears fall down my face, didn't know what to say.
We survived another fight.
So glad to sleep in my cot tonight.
We made it out alive to fight again.
We are just waiting for the orders of when.

Me
Alone I sit because certain friends are no more
They call, I won't run out the door
Different paths our lives have taken
Only to see who you truly are, my eyes awaken
I will not apologize for who I am
You knew who I was since our friendship began
You want more from me than I can give
Alone you will be and how you'll live
I'm done giving in to everyone else
Maybe your issues will fix itself
Time for me to move on and live my life
I am far from the perfect mother and wife
My heart is saddened by the way you are
Continue this way and you won't get far

step outside to morning quiet
No a soul is sight
The world slowly starts to wake
From a long and peaceful night
Color returns to the sky
As the stars go to sleep
This is a picture is my mind I will forever keep
Peaceful morning as cars drive by
It's such a beautiful day I will not lie
As I look up towards the sky
I close my eyes and take a deep breath
How I love morning quiet

Mother Natures Anger

Blowing breezes, wind chimes sing
Who knows what today's weather will bring
Clouds in the sky, dark and mean
Pouring rain makes grass green
Earth drinks until can't drink any more
Here comes the floods across the floor
Families run to the door
Mother Natures angry, her fury rages
I can no longer see the rain guages
Angry winds scream fiercely and loud
Blacker than black storm clouds
Pieces of homes and trees in the sky
Funnel cloud creeping down, see it fly
Pain and destructive what it brings
When it ends, it destroyed everything
Darkness slowly starts to fade
Trees are gone, no more shade
Blowing winds, silence reigns
Out from the rubble you can see the plains
Mother natures anger is finally gone
Slowly you open your eyes here comes the dawn

Mother natures tears fall from the sky.

Replenishes land so hungry and dry

The sun shines on her smiling face down.

Earth's creatures make a beautiful sound.

So much sadness washes away.

Blue skies above, such a beautiful day

Cotton, why clouds float through the sky

Lying on the grass, watching the day go by

Mother nature's tears are no more.

What does tomorrow have in store?

The sun begins to set for her sleep.

Creatures of the night come out to take a peak.

Begin to drink from pools of tears

Always alert; danger near

Mother nature's tears begin to fall.

Against the leaves of trees so tall

They satisfy thirst from the sky.

Creatures of the sky also fly.

My heart is broken, my soul is lost

It cannot be repaired, to high of cost

Alone I sit and see your empty heart

You continue to drive us apart

The choices you made are yours alone

I will not be the one who picks up the phone

I will not be treated this way anymore

Nor will I sit and wait by the door

My heart is broken, my soul is lost

You continue to lie, my feelings tossed

Family first, were your words

Another statement for the birds

I hold back tears that you don't see

You will never see what you have done to me

Rules change to suit your needs

Of course I am the bad guy no one believes

A control freak is what you are

Your life consists of food and a bar

I hope you see what you have done

Apparently you think its fun

Its always and forever been about you

I have nothing left to say or do

You put your friends first, that will never change

That will forever be part of your game

My heart is broken my soul is lost

My poetry journey has taken many turns
So much I write, so much I learn
It's o.k. to write what you feel
Pain and emotions are so real
I found my peace, no one to judge
Only acceptance with a lot of love
My poetry journey helped me find my way
This is one place, I think I'll stay

Space ships and unicorns thoughts unfold
Put it on paper, stories told
I found my place where its o.k to dream
Sometimes frustrations make me scream
My poetry journey has helped me grow
Helped me cope with pain of long ago
Weight of my shoulders found my peace
Writing is the best way to find my release

Sky so blue, mountains so green
Most beautiful thing I have ever seen
Fields of flowers for miles around
Listening to the silence as the wind blows
Beauty of the earth it shows
Trees so talk, smell of pine in the air
I sit here and relax without a care
Natures beauty I enjoy
I pick up a stick and throw it like a toy
Fire burns in the night sky
Pretty glow of orange to warm us
Toasting marshmellows a yummy treat
Under the night sky this can't be beat
Coyotes howl in the night
Animals roam under the safety of night
Beautiful deer don't want to fight
I sleep under the night sky
Close my eyes and let out a sigh
Crickets chirping what a beautiful sound
Sweet thoughts I dream as I lay on the ground
Nature is such a beautiful thing to see

You'll never walk alone" as the song goes

Do you know what to expect?, hell no!!!

Patrolling the streets , you never walk alone

Every day we walk a hot zone

Behind every corner, down a dark street

Anxiety so high, you can feel your heart beat

I hear that song over and over in my head

Stay together, so no one else winds up dead

"You'll never walk alone" words to live by

Lord knows I've seen to many people die

I sing this song, silently in my mind

Walking along, villagers are kind

The Righteous Brothers sang a perfect song

It helps no matter what is wrong

"You'll never walk alone" I remember everyday

I'm going home are the next words I will say

"Never Walk Alone"

Medivac landing, rotors turning with an omninous roar

Medics open the sliding door, boots on the ground

Blood dripping down his face, holding his buddy’s hand

Kneeling down next to his stretcher in the Iraqi sand

Wounded soldiers loaded on board

Medivac doors slams shut the door, and lifts to the air

Medics immediately begin emergency care

Blood stained uniforms cut away, blood sweep done

Fluids hanging, holding his buddy’s hand , he won’t let go

Blood drenched face, he takes a deep breath

No more fighting my friend, we cheated death

Back against the helicopter wall he closes his eyes

Thinking that this was the day he may not have survived

We go home together or not at all

You hear your buddy say from the stretcher, it was my call

We’re okay my friend, we won the fight

You are going to sleep in a warm bed tonight

He takes a deep breath and his hands begin to shake

I’m still here he says to himself, I’m still here

When you are able will sit down and have a beer.

Your body was laid to rest today
On a clear blue sunny day
Military honors is what you deserve
We love and thank you because you served
21 gun salute in your honor
American flag for your girls
Your friends here to honor you means the world
I know that you are finally at peace
You are free from pain
I won't let your memory die in vain
I look to the sky and tell the girls to pray to you
I say daddy's an angel in heaven looking down at you
He would be so proud of what you've become
There is peace in my heart that you are in a better place
I will never let the girls forget your handsome face

A Personal Battle
You were sent to fight a war
That has yet to be won
You are forced to leave your newborn son
You go to a place and face death everyday
There is nothing to say
You fight each day and see your friends die
And all you can do is cry
You feel helpless and angry things haven't changed
Looking for things to be explained
Horror ingrained in your mind
Flying home and back to the grind
Nightmares cause you to scream at night
You still remember that fight
Watching your friends die
Everything has gone awry
Hoping you can find peace
Finding ways to find that release
Letting go of anger deep inside
Climbing up that mountainside
Your personal battle has been won
For you and your son
You look to the sky and tell God to take care of your friends
Then you say "Hey guys!! Till we meet again"

Pictures of you on the wall
I see you in uniform standing tall
I sit and listen to the stories you tell
Landing on the beach and going through hell
Listening to you talk like it was yesterday
Me sitting and hanging on every word you say
Reminicing about your buddies long ago
Sadness in your voice, the pain that you show
Some never made it home, you will never forget
You remembering everything about them I bet
Proud to have served your country, you show it well
Stories you continue to tell
Remembering all those who fell
A proud Marine you remain
No soldier is ever the same
Pictures of you from a time long ago
That Marine Corp spirit you continue to show
Wonderful stories you tell continue to flow
Stories of bombs exploding, and you loading ammo
A smile grows as you look at your photo
Pictures of you on the wall
A proud Marine says it all

Patrol today, battle at night

Getting to tired to fight

Piece by piece my spirit drains

Blood from my friends leaves a stain

Sadness and pain of empty faces

Watching us from different places

Is the enemy hiding is dark places?

Piece by Piece the innocent rebuild

So many innocent people and soldiers killed

How do they find happiness amongst destruction?

Children play in the streets

Such a simple culture that continues to survive

It takes so much to stay alive

Piece by Piece broken spirits return

So many simple things I have learned

Patrol today, thank god no battle tonight

Pieces of me are over the fight.

No more battles, no more death

So many buddies turned to ****

Bodies and Spirits destroyed from that life

Going home and pick up the pieces with his my wife

Pieces by Piece my pain goes away

With the rise of the sun, begins a new day

Reflections

Every year I come to the wall

Remembering the war of long ago

Peaceful calm as I walk looking at names

Brothers and sisters who gave their lives

I touch the names of friends that I have lost

Who fought for their country at any cost

I close my eyes as I touch a friends name

Ever since that day I am not the same

Open my eyes to see their reflections staring back at me

Friends who died, so people could be free

They touch my hand and smile at me

Angel in heaven spirits free

I often ask the question of why am I here

The courage they showed they had no fear

I will always see their reflections in my mind
please feel free to message me if their is anything wrong with this poem,  thank you

Rest in Heaven my friend, your fight is done

You fought the battle, but your demons won

My heart is sad, I could not fix your pain

You had so much to live for, so much to gain

My heart is sad you are no longer here

You were my friend I though so dear

You traveled the road, I couldn't get you back

I tried my best to help, I will remember that

Rest in Heaven my friend, your soul is at peace
