Raise your hand and repeat after me
The commercial said you would be all you could be
You will travel and definitely see the world
In your fatigues and standing tall
In a firefight with your back against the wall
Your buddies scream as bullets fly
Black hawks firing rockets from the sky
Hit the dirt as the explosions began
Dug in deep upon the sand
When the smoke clears you look around
Slowly your buddies get off the ground
All accept one who does move
He was so young and felt like he had something to prove
He sacrificed himself to protect someone
Hid the young from a machine gun
Soldiers cross for his sacrifice
We will never forget, he gave his life
Soldiers sacrifice each and everyday
We should thank them each and every day

Pretty colors in the trees

Orange, yellow, browns and greens

So many colors that are seen

Such a beauty, I only see in my dreams

Falling leaves hit the ground

Floating freely, don’t make a sound

Breezes blow, through the trees

Pollen fly’s and makes you sneeze.

All the leaves on the ground, Winters next stop

Cold air constant as winds blow, temperatures drop

Black ice on the black top

Huge icicles hanging from homes

Igloo forts in the shape of domes

Snow melts seasons change again

Want to be warm, just waiting for weatherman to say when

Here comes Spring, animals wake from their sleep

Standing on the mountainside are the sheep

Seasons changing with color of the leaves

Hear me Lord as I pray
Going out on patrol today
Weapons loaded, gear on my back
I am ready for any attack
Walking through towns on patrol
Ready for a fight to unfold

Hear me Lord as I silently pray
Show me and my squad the way
Eyes looking all around
Shots ring out, we hit the ground
M-16s firing back
I pray silently we survive the attack

In my mind I say the Lords prayer
Gunships firing, flying through the air
Hear me Lord as I silently Pray
Help me and my buddies survive this day

Hear me Lord I'm glad you heard my prayer
I will give myself to you with great care
I return to my rack and close my eyes
Take a deep breath and silently cry
Today thank GOD was not the day for me to die
Hear me Lord I thank you for my life
So I can return home to my kids and wife

Spring time approaches flowers bloom
Tired of rain, dark skies and gloom
Clear blue skies, sun shining bright
Bears awaken from their extended night
Morning song from birds in the trees
Snowing melting from the winter freeze
Spring time approaches warm breezes blow
Streams and creeks, their waters flow
Trees cover the earth in a blanket of green
Fields of colors, so much can be seen
Spring time approaches warm weather arrives
Tilt back my head and enjoy the sunshine in the sky
As breezes blow I close my eyes
Listening to the music of the wind chimes
Enjoying the peacefulness of day time

Spring time approaches

Homeless vets fill our streets
dealing with addictions they cannot beat
Stand on street corners begging for food
Often standing with broken down shoes
It makes me sad to see what happened to them
Returned home to anger and hate from a war 40 years ago
Tired not to let emotions show
Our boys today come home with missing limbs and distraught minds
Soldiers trouble adapting to normal lives
Sometimes they just cannot survive
Sick, hungry, and tired when they finally come for help
Then they don't stay
All they do is run away
And go back to the streets
Somewhere out there they still have families and friends who care
Soldiers feel life on the streets is a burden to bare
Its sad to see what happened to these warriors
Reduced to life on the streets

Listening to morning quiet as cars drive by
Whispy clouds up in the sky
The sun slowly rising from its sleep
Morning stretch begins the day
Sunday morning what can I say
Birds in the trees singing their songs
God's perfect day what can go wrong?
Open windows cool breezes blow
The smell of fresh clean air begins to show
Sunday mornings for lazy days in bed
Relaxing calm in my head
Sun rising hire in the sky
Watching the birds begin to fly
Sunday mornings

I sit here alone with my thoughts
Thinking about so many things
Worried about what the rest of the day will bring
I think about the job I do
Am I good enough, what do I have to prove?
Did the patient last night make it through
I feel like I should know so much more
Because I never know what's in store
My thoughts sometimes get the best of me
It's time for me to let go and be free
Thoughts are there, why am I so scared?
Afraid to be alone
No one for me to pick up the phone
Racing thoughts won't stop
Tears down my face
Thoughts betray my safe place
Sitting alone thoughts in my mind
Close my eyes, breath and unwind
Body relaxes, a breath of fresh air
Thoughts make me so scared
Can't get the best of me I will never be free

Time to fly, time to shine

Time to celebrate, a glass of wine

To many sacrifices, I have made

Time to step out of someone elses  shade

Success defines who I am

Don't like it? Don't give a ****

Time to take myself off the shelf

I look in the mirror and see myself

Time to fly, time to shine

Successes I create, all mine

No longer will I stand behind

Afraid I will no longer be

Time to think about me

Time for my spirit to be free

Heartbreak and sadness I endure

Time to lift my spirit off the floor

Time to fly, time to shine

Time to make my life again mine

Twisted emotions anxieties scream

Confusing thoughts and pictures in my dreams

Muscles in my body twisted and tense

So many thoughts that don't make sense

What do I do, don't know how to feel

All these emotions, is this real

Tears welling up in my eyes

All I want to do is curl up and cry

So many thoughts about random things

Lets see what tommorow brings

No one to talk to about how I feel

All my anxiety, so very real

Anxiety screams take a deep breath

Close my eyes and I stand still

Don't understand what's going on

Trying so hard to be strong

Twisted emotions off and on

So much work to make them gone

Twisted emotions

The sun goes to sleep and says goodnight

The moon rises high and shines so bright

Creatures awake from their sleep

From hiding places safe and deep

Cool breezes blow, rustling leaves

Voices of the night interweave

Remain in the shadows, so no one can see

Freedom to roam and be free

Crickets chirping,coyotes howl

Night time predators on the prowl

Voices of the night that want to be heard

Sitting in the dark, not understanding a word

Breaking twigs and crunching leaves

Sounds you can't believe

Voices of the night

When we were young we didn't care
Our thoughts and dreams, we did share
So many unanswered questions in our minds
Looking for answers we could not find
Then we grew up and went our own ways
I sit here, look back and remember the good old days
We were so young with not a care in the world

When we were young, we never said what we feel
Often wondered would it be real
I was often afraid to say what I thought
My anxieties made me overwrought
I wasn't as pretty or thin as the other girls
Hence I stayed in my own little world
Last one to picked for a team
Gave up being the pretty girl dreams

When we were young I wanted to grow up
Then I could show the world what I'm made of
So many times I look back at those days
Where big hair was all the craze.
Would I have fit in, if I played the game
Just wanted to be included, didn't want fame

When we were young I didn't know where my life would go
Parts went fast, others went slow
All grown up and sometimes feel alone
So many times I want to pick up the phone
Wonder where you are and what your life is like
Would you feel anything for me or tell me to take a hike
So many thoughts run through my mind
Now its time for me to unwind
I remember the days when we were young
All my friends it was so much fun

Words on paper let the imagination fly

They don't always make sense, no reason why

Thoughts, emotions,dreams, you write

Imagination wanders, dragons fight

Words are freedom to say what you feel

Scenarios don't always have to be real

Words on paper help you be free

Words on paper let me be me

No one to judge if its not right

I say what I think, there's no fight

My pen flows free and I write

Peaceful morning, not a cloud in site

I sit at my desk, staring at the screen

Thinking about last nights dream

Words on paper let me be free

Words on paper let me be me

— The End —
