I'm not about to sing untruth
Because of humdrum chimes
Timothy H May 2016
There are fields that call me out
That I have never seen
Only way I know they are
The feeling in between

Meadows filled with four-legged furs
And older rooted greens
I fit in just fine with them
And I like what I seem

When visits become seldom more
For reasons unforeseen
The call rings to wake my soul
Reminds me of true me

Feet planted firmly
On the earth
At a favorite park
Sky is vibrant
Exploding with color
High altitude
    enormous Clouds
The kind that could get dark and angry
If they wanted to
But will probably leave
Well enough alone today
There is no wind
And I am here
Looking for the truest truth
I can find
Which seems to be
Only heard
In ears lacking arrogance
And I
Standing here
Am going to have to carefully
And gently
Listen
    to hear it

I could settle for cups of Folgers
Self picked dandelion tea
And PBR
In exchange for more time
    with soft sunsets

My greatest
fear is that
eventually
I'll only
be a hollow shell

After over
exposure
through these
words

And cursed
to conjure
deep mysteries
while searching
for a place
in this
world

He strained my faith—
Did he find it supple?
Shook my strong trust—
Did it then—yield?

Hurled my belief—
But—did he shatter—it?
Racked—with suspense—
Not a nerve failed!

Wrung me—with Anguish—
But I never doubted him—
‘Tho’ for what wrong
He did never say—

Stabbed—while I sued
His sweet forgiveness—
Jesus—it’s your little “John”!
Don’t you know—me?

*A beautiful sunset
embraced a naked sky
in sensual reflections
as a blushing twilight waited
quietly in the shadows hoping
the moon didn’t see
