she put my heart in a jar.
wait here until i return, she said.
i waited two forevers for her to open it, my heart was suffocating.

i was drowning in her memories, her eyes danced like fireflies in the moonlight. timeless passion. she is my flower child.

flawless. my heart is in a cage, solitude sedates me. i recall memories we never had or maybe it was visions of a future we will have?

i sit down with a notepad and admire your movement. i pen down my studies, and try to understand your complexity. your face glows, your waist flows. like the beautiful Victoria Falls, African queen.

i digress, you still have my heart in a jar. open a few holes, my heart is suffocating.

hair like Rapunzel, fine spun gold, only love knows our connection. time is but a teardrop in our moments.

on my notepad, is stories of what i think you could be, yet my imagination is far from your real being.

your shadow is unique. i can see it dancing under the stars, it tells its own stories. faded, i am.

im loving, your heart. keep moving, beauty. i love you. stop arguing with your mind, you’re beautiful. every man knows.

o, to be young and feel love’s keen sting.

beauty.

je t’aime. belle âme, mon coeur appartient à vous.

Here's to pianos.
To uncut toe nails and broken jaws.
Here's to sweaty palms and fancy door knobs.
The last tissue in the box and third graders who know every single dinosaur.
Here's to prickly legs and furless cats.
Slamming doors and rubbing alcohol.
Fun house mirrors and wet towels.
Here's to the boy with the sweaty armpits,
And the biggest heart in the room.
Here's to all the girls who will never give him a chance
Because his hair is greasy
And he always has pieces of apple stuck in his braces.
Here's to grandmothers holding their children's babies for the first
And last time.
Here's to six foot tall nine year olds
And acne covered foreheads.
North Ohio and beehives.
Here's to wrinkles and back pain,
And the kids who never change for gym class.
Here's to burnt papers and wrongful convictions.
Faked I love you's and backwards t shirts.
For every broken leg and broken heart,
Seasonal depression and ADD.
For unshaven armpits and ripped jeans.
Frequent showers and twisted ankles.
****** mattresses and forged signatures.
Here's to the things that remind me of you.
You cannot see who I am,
the girl inside
who doesn't, who won't
run and hide.
Isn't weak, meek
or too afraid to speak.
Who won't let people get her down,
the only girl who wouldn't let you push her around.

You cannot be who I am,
for I am above your immaturity
a place you've never known....
or will ever know!
But will search for so you can at least
catch a glimpse of where I am.
Life goes up and down,
and all around.
But you?
You'll stay the same...
with only your hopeless self to blame.

You cannot love who I am,**
the artistic young poet who breaths life into words,
or the object meant for looks and never to be heard?
I am not yours to hold,
to mold.
to ultimately destroy
I will NOT be someones mute toy.
Fight back I will...
until the end of my days,
for I already know,
you'll never change your ungodly ways.

You cannot hold who I am.
You cannot see who I am
You cannot touch who I am
You cannot love who I am
You cannot be who I am
AND you cannot TAKE who I am!

For I am me...
and you don't even know *who she is.
I hope one day you are okay
You don’t feel the pain
You don’t search for ways
To reinforce negative thoughts
With cutting away

I hope one day you find the strength
To break free from the bonds
To fight it, the force
Of something cold and dark and hard
Like the ground you weep on

I hope one day you are happy
When nothing can bring you down
And you will live and love, merrily
The universe will surround you in light
Radiating your entire being

Because you are worth more than the sadness inside you will have you believe
Because you are worth more to the world being happy and free
Because you deserve it, everything

know one know but me
It's a secret
I never wanted to tell
Just wanted to be,
years later I than seek therapy
opening up to someone
   was not my specialty
It's a secret
I was so good at hiding the pain
it's a wonder I'm even sane
They sat and listen as I talked
The broken girl that wasn't my fault
I was the girl of happiness and laughter
but under it all I was scared with pain
never again could I remain the same
Some times you just escape to some where else
Not really leaving your body but mind
In a soft spoken voice Disassociate is the word
my mind was like a file going back an forward
split personality
Now is time to get well and face reality
How could this all be
What is happening to me
Do I want to stay and tell them my life,
or want to turn and run and not be a wife.
I have a man that love's me
He wants me happy and set free
Free from the chains that hold me down
free from the pain that has captured the sounds.
Yes I said as I was sitting on the couch
I do want to get well
so the story and tears fell
Not finished
I let you slip through my fingers
As every day yours began to slim
And the puzzle pieces that fit perfectly began to float away like melting ice caps under the Alaskan sun
And I wanted to hold you a little longer
But all the while I felt you absorbing into death like spilt coffee in a washcloth
And bit by bit I watched the sand of your hourglass slide to its end

You always told me you couldn't be scared because heaven was real and you kicked the devil sideways years ago
And for your sake I hope he stayed down, and for your sake I hope you were right
But these days it feels like he's standing up, holding his side, coming back for revenge
He's got his pliers out and he's coming for my soul and I'm kicking I'm fighting I'm screaming
But I'll never be as strong as you and I never learned how to keep afloat of my own sin
So now I'm sinking

And I sit and listen to them speak in artificial intelligence
And wonder how they've kept the devil down
Do they stand on his back and scream "You can't have me now"
Or has he just lost interest like I have?

When all sounds are lost and I've made enough tissue paper thin excuses to stay alone for a few hours, I picture your smile, cloaking me like warm candlelight
But you know the wind came years ago and now it's a flickering warmth
I remember your fingers, skeletal now
And I hope you were right
I hope our slender fingers meet one day
But for now I will feign strength and grind my fears to dust with a mortar and pestle
And for the time being
I cannot look at my own hands
For fear that they be bloodstained
