2015 has come and gone like a day
It was long, it was hard, it was fun, it is over
Moments treasured forever
Some buried beyond oblivion

The clock tick tocks towards the morrow
A brand new day awaits
A bright new season
A clean slate
The great  reset button
All becomes renewed

Time forever moving on
The gap of life closing in
Yester year goals down the drain
Fewer chances left to make that mark
Options narrowing down

Dreams now closer to reality
It is  the year to live out loud
Hope will be reawakened
Time and chance will collide
Destiny shall make a way

Eat healthy, keep fit, stay sharp
Earn more, spend less, save more
Work smarter, keep learning , do more
Stress less, smile more, sleep happy
Think strategically, attack and  PREVAIL!

Always be hungry
Always be thirsty
Never settle
Be tenacious, never give up
Keep believing, keep pushing, keep moving

This is your year!

Here's to an awesome 2016!

Afremica is an Utopian paradise
The last of the old renaissance
A place of peace, harmony and tranquillity
The custodial venue for the oracle of wisdom

Afremica is the house of beauty
A kind of haven hidden in Africa
The soil rich and fertile
Rivers flowing from the heavens

This is a land of abundance
The economy works for everyone
There is no sick nor unemployed
Prosperity is the dignity  of its people

A place of love and unity
Colour is nothing but a word
Humanity exists in harmony
All men are created, live and die equal

The earth  needs the beauty of Afremica
And  the Humanity thereof
The wells will heal the cancer in the world
The soil will end hunger in the world

It was all lost that day
All those good many years of sanity
And clarity of mind gone in a second
One moment and a few words triggered it all

The beast resurrected like a Phoenix
Spitting  fire like a wounded dragon
Raging  with infuriating anger
Erupting harshness like an angry volcano

In that instance, the gentleman died
And that animal arose
A monsterous transformation occurred
Until it's ugly head surfaced

The sunshine dimmed off abruptly
All manner of darkness appeared
A feast of anger and madness  was served
Trapping the man in a weary temperament

Maybe this could be the month
When the loathed seed will arise
All the lovely flowers will blossom
The scent of red roses up in the air

The hearts of maidens full of hope
Hope in the mysterious connection
One heart intertwined with another
Two souls conjoined in unity

If such exists, this could be the month
Oh what joy it would mean
Oh what peace it could bring
Oh what contentment it will give

Birds chirping in the spring morning
Two lovers laying in truthful bliss
No words spoken, only the hearts converse
Maybe this could be the month of love

Asia the beautiful
A fusion of the south and the east
The middle ground of the world
Welcomed by a million smiles

Asia the great
A place where the sun is always shy
Hovering above the clouds
Ministering it's vice all day long

Asia the jewel of the world
The factory of the world
Shining it's radiance to the corners of the earth
Always up early
Running ahead of the rest
Time flying faster than a dream

Asia the glorious
The biggest of them all
Majestic in every way
Uniting the world in silent diplomacy
#Asia

Her love unlike anything under the sun
Soothes the soul
Pleasant to behold
Assures and calms men
A rainbow in a dark world

Beyond comprehension is her character
Perfect mixture of vanilla and lavender
Creatures made for beauty
Endowed to satisfy
Beauty renewed with age

Her love cannot be compared to any other
Stronger than a fortress guarded by battalions
Secure like an eagle's nest
More tranquil than a palace garden
Tastier than the vines of Greece

It endures the seasons
It survives the quakes and storms
The assassin cannot prevail over it
Survives scourges and disease
It will be endure on after food has run out
It is a strong army
It is more faithful than a brotherhood oath

But alas more temperamental than a stormy night
Fragile than a candle lit on a windy day
Or a newly formed flower
Slow coming like spring in the middle of winter
Chocked by the slightest of action
Dies just as quickly as it begins
Eddie Matikiti Apr 2016
What shall I say about you beautiful
Are you a saint sent from heaven above
Or a fallen angel roaming the earth
Maybe a living goddess in a mortal frame

You are the beauty of youth
The first kiss from the first love
The rain that comes at the drought's end
You're that feeling of triumph at the end of a conquest

There's godliness in your voice
You are that rib taken from Adam
The essence of all that I desire
A dream of a paradise in this lifetime

You are beautiful !

I am learning to be content
In all my lot
Whether I have plenty or little
Through rough patches, hills and valleys

It is not about what I have
It is about who I am
I am content
My perspective has renewed

Seasons & times take their turn
Though it rains, through the dry spells
Storms, hurricanes and winters
The sun shall rise again

Things may work out or not
Yet I remain unruffled
I face my days with blind optimism
Contentment being my guiding force

I'll be as steady as a rock
Eagerly awaiting morning-time
I'll be grateful for each new day
My radiance will outlast it all

Melancholies of the mind
Troubles of the heart
Misery that darkens the soul
Pain that consumes the beauty of the day
Sadness that alters the mask

A persistent ill that lingers undeterred
A vulture to take prey of a weakened man
Locked in a dark room
A prison with neither window nor wall
Gloom and weeping the menu for the day

Troubles of this life never-ending
Each new day bears its own demons
Smiles replaced by tears
The laughter of children by the groaning of men
Visions of joy only for the sweetest dream

The day passes fighting a ferocious dog
That is set and locked its jaws
The pain and sadness who can withstand
It fades the hope in men
The strongest soul cannot resist

A pill for this aching soul
A remedy for this life of distress
A drink from a river of smiles
A day full of sunshine's embrace
A joyous life my heart desires
A hope that will linger on

After all this time
I still think you're amazing
You still light up my fire
You don't cease to thrill

After all these months
You keep getting hotter
Your heart is still as pure as gold
You still touch my heart

After all these weeks
I still miss you
I wonder about you
Can't wait to see you again

After all these days
You're still a miracle to me
I thank God for you
I see my future aligned to yours
Eddie Matikiti Oct 2015
Uprising stirring throughout the land
Children marching for a cause
The elders must listen
Dreams sold for so long
Time for reckoning upon us

A man's money is his life
Take his money you take his life
A man's education is his future
Take away that and you make him extinct

The youth uprising for a cause
The men in black suits must comply
Fees must fall
Education for free and for all

They sold us dreams of a land filled with milk and honey
For so long we believed
Soldiered on barefoot to no end
The richer getting richer
Bleak future for the African child

History will be made today
The men in black suits will answer
They will feel the tremors of our solidarity
No longer shall they hide behind their dark shades

Lend your ears to us
Let your hearts be compassionate to our cause
Fees must fall
Educate us for the future of Africa
Eddie Matikiti Apr 2016
You're a flower
Blossom and flourish
Shine in your magnificence
Reign in your prime

But remember life is only a moment
Nothing lasts incessantly
Beauty is temporary
All soon fades

We hurt each other
Because we love
Love is painful sometimes because of feelings

If we didn't have emotions
It wouldn't hurt
But we love each other
So it will hurt

It's a fine line between love and hurt
A flick switch that turns on/off
We could kiss or fight
We have the power

Forgive because you love
Fight for the love
Protect and nourish it
We do love each other
That's the important bit.
Eddie Matikiti Oct 2016
I'm grateful for being in the land of the living. Even though things are hardly perfect, I'm happy to be alive and full of possibilities.

Tomorrow is coming and it will always be better than today and yesterday.

I'm grateful for hope and energy. As long as I'm alive I will always hope. After hope, I'll exert energy to make my dreams come alive.

I'm grateful for the promise of the future which says to me, "peace, be still, it shall be well. "
Eddie Matikiti Apr 2016
Happiness is an illusion
A concept that entices the feeble mind
Always temporary in nature
Here this moment and gone in the next

Happiness is a dream
A fantasy we have designed
A remedy for this aching world
Short term relief for a persistent ill

Happiness is a charade
Like Monopoly that grown ups play
Fictitious and devoid of reality
A farce that should only be enjoyed by children

Happiness is an idea
That sounds beautiful
The hope of every man
A right of every living soul

Happiness is a drug
That we must all partake
To drown our sorrows
So we smile and see rainbows daily
Happiness

Time flies faster than we realise
Seems you were born last Tuesday
Fresh from heaven
You are a dream!

Days passed and turned into weeks
Those weeks flew by
Your first milestone  at 90 days
Growing up so much, very quick

Today you have turned 1
The most beautiful baby boy ever
Your will, passion and strength visible
My son, my legacy - Nathan Ishe Eddie

Your future is brilliant and grand
Be blessed a million times more
Conquer, dominate and take over the world
The sky is no limit for you

Here's to celebrating you
And wishing you a happy 1st birthday

Love

Dad

Second time around this block
Have been here before
Things surprisingly familiar
The language is coming back to me
I can find my way

Not a stranger anymore
Have been here before
No surprises lurking around the nook
That perfect Eastern breeze
I speak the language now

This currency I have used
Have been here before
Got my bearings right this time
The food is as good as  it was then
The drink more quenching now

These faces are familiar strangers
Have been here before
Life is the same as it was then
Good vibes resounding the dance floor
The journey is sweeter now

My expectations are now clear-sighted
Have been here before
Much wiser in my dealings
Can negotiate in the market place
Fear of the unknown no longer exists

I can now explore all corners
Have been here before
Delight of seeing old acquaintances
Catching up around the fireplace
It is good to be back

I've had enough of this
I'm tired of this now
I don't deserve this nonsense
Go hang yourself!

You're not my business
You're a pathetic excuse for a man
You're a selfish ungrateful pig
You're a selfish, shallow, ungrateful human being

I regret the day I ever met you
You deserve all the misery and loneliness
You don't deserve any respect or diplomacy
I don't care about you
Just go rot in hell!
Good luck being single!
Eddie Matikiti Aug 2015
Touchdown on that blessed tarmac
Longed for this moment for days
Thousands of seconds it took
Finally expectation faces reality

A new abode  made amongst strangers
My bed made in a foreign Place
Unfamiliar faces surrounding me
They speak yet I don't understand
Far from all that is home

The days moved
No longer did I feel estranged
The local tune turned sweet
Elements  embraced me
The mosquito befriended me
Strange food acquainted  my belly

Alas as soon as I settled in
Thoughts of home came knocking with rage
Shattering my new found peace
A battle between present and home ensued
Home did present a strong fight

The heart became set anew
The mind followed suit
Home was best, we resolved
The present was just a fading moment

Time dragged it's feet
The food lost it's appeal
Present beauties diminished
Sleep evaded me
The night was a dreaded ordeal
The eye fixated on the clock

The good day did finally dawn
It was a battle now settled
Aboard that distance machine
The temporary fades far from sight
Images of home bright and real
Home is the sweetest place to be

My soul is alive...
I am in a journey and I dont really know where I am going...
I am constantly between well and unwell...
Between good and bad...
Hopefully more good than bad.
My soul sometimes feels tired and hopeful at the same time.
I am certain only of one thing...
That I am alive.
Eddie Matikiti Aug 2015
You were a wonder when I first saw you
A miracle occurred when I spoke with you
You elevated my status
No longer was I a mere man

I still remember  you
I remember all the dresses you wore
The beauty of your mind
The sound of your voice
The feel of your embrace
You are ingrafted in my mind

Something wakes me  in the night time
I reminisce about the love that was
That season you brightened my life
Seems ages ago now

I Remember your sweet and spicy  love
It was beautiful and sure
Adorned with grace and goodness
You answered my cry for love
You were my rain in a desert place
You turned my house into a home

Could never get tired of you
Could never have enough of you
You were a perfect dose
For a time my house was heaven

You captured my heart
Left a lasting impression
I wonder still about the time
When you loved me and had my heart to rule

True happiness resides in days past
Today is for tomorrow's memories
Maybe one day you will fade away
And no longer haunt the serenity of my heart
Eddie Matikiti Jan 2019
As brutal as a desert drought!
Baren lands, hungry crops and starving mouths.
31 days seems like 62.
A neverending nightmare.
It is a marauding scavenger.
Devouring all that cross its path.

It starts off good with a lot of hope.
Before reality dawns and the struggle begins.
Each new day we limp forward.
Eddie Matikiti Jun 2019
Forgiveness is the secret to all those long and successful relationships we hear about. We might always offend and annoy each other, have nasty and unnecessary fights. Our egos may come in the way. We could even say a lot of careless things that hurt to the core. But if we can own up to our mistakes, apologize sincerely, forgive each other and move forward, then we have a great recipe for a relationship that will last forever.
Eddie Matikiti Oct 2017
Love connects people
Brings them together
Binds them together
Keeps them together
Love is a beautiful thing

May the excitement of the day
The beautiful dresses and suits
The magic and joy in the air
Scores of family and friends
Never cloud the fact that
It's all about love
Love is a wonderful thing

This is the day made by the Lord
Ordained before time
Cherish, enjoy and treasure it
It's the genesis of a sacred union
Two hearts woven to be one
To live in holy matrimony
Love is a powerful thing

We wish you well
We pray for you
We support you
Blessings and fortunes be upon you
Good health and longevity be upon you
Prosperity and success be upon you
Love is a glorious thing

May your house be filled with love and laughter
May you be a powerful force
May the best years of your lives start today
May you show the world:
Love is alive
Love is a beautiful thing.
Eddie Matikiti Jul 2017
Is there a future for us
Or is this just a futile mess
Shall we see tomorrow
Will our love survive the bitter night

You are so close, yet so far
So near, yet so distant
A love doomed by nature perhaps
Ruined by time and disbelief

The thin line divides us
Far from love towards destruction and hate
Blinding us to see the simple fact
That what joins us is greater than what seeks to dim our flame

There was a day we seemed so perfect
We were destined for eternity
Now we walk on eggshells
Doubtful of our fate
Fearful of what the day shall bring

Change is upon us
Half a heart no longer believes
The other is found wanting
Maybe love has dried up
All hope extinguished by doubts

The enemy who defeated was the mind
It reasoned love out of our story
Made it out to be about flesh and lies
Ignoring the simple and sure truth
That love was, and could have been.
Eddie Matikiti Mar 2018
Death is a necessary friend we all must embrace.
It will come suddenly like a robber in the night.
No one is immune to it.
Do not forget this!

To the greatest of mankind!
The queen of the earth!
The indispensable parent!
The best of all humanity!
Amai(Mother)!

What would the world look like?
How could it function and work?
Would there be order at all?
We can't magine life without you Amai

You conceive, nurture and protect us
You are the true darling of our lives
You're needed and wanted
The sweetest gift of all

Life begins in you
You feed and clothe us
And bring us back to health
Always thinking about us
Selfless throughout all your days

You teach us to survive
You know what's good for us
You prepare us to take on the world
We sore like eagles because of you

You really care. You really love!
You sacrifice yourself for us
Nothing like mother's touch
No one can take your place
Our hero! SuperMom!

We take the time today
To celebrate your beauty
And take a knee of honour
We salute and thank you
The greatest of all, Amai!
Happy mother's day

Inspire me to love and I will love
Inspire me to triumph and I will do so
Spark an action
Spark a response

Be my muse, be my driver
Take me beyond what I know
Steer me to unknown destinations
Inspire me!
Eddie Matikiti Jan 2016
My heart feels one thing
My mind thinks another
My mouth utters something else
My body speaks a foreign tounge

That which I mean to say, I do not
I do that which I wish not
My words contradict my intention
A constant warring within me

I err in my expression
And end up hurting you
Which then hurts me
Making our world sad and blue

Only if my heart would speak
Or bare open for you to see
The purity of intentions within
Unadulterated by my disruptive tounge
Eddie Matikiti Apr 2016
Make me a scarf
For winter is approaching
Make it blue and grey
To match the style of my heart

Make it with nothing but love and knitting needles
With wool woven from your soul
The scarf should be long and thick
To cover the emptiness in my life

Hasten to make it
Winter is approaching
Cover my heart
Eddie Matikiti Nov 2015
Never will I see you again
Forget it!
Never ever !
Never no more will you see me

Till I part from this world
Till the last breath leaves my chest
Never will you experience my embrace
Never will you enjoy the benefit of my affection

Never lasts forever!
Till the very end of time or the earth
At no time in the present or the future
Will my heart warm up to the thought of you

You will ever be dead to me
Never ever will I open up my soul again
Until the end of time
Never no more will you see me
#neverever

Fly away and find a perfect love. Fly far and wide. Up and down until you find him. Open wide your eyes. Consider every opportunity. But alas do it quickly for that love must be found now. Find it today. Find it tomorrow and not any day further!
Eddie Matikiti Mar 2016
A more wonderful queen I have not encountered
Beautiful collage of wisdom, grace and wonder
You are One in a million
You make my Dreams more beautiful than reality

You appeared like a kind, warm and needed summer rain
The brightest rose amongst the lilies
Feels like a Burgundy silk on my body
You are the taste of heaven

You bring me peace and delicious and edible thoughts
Honey and caramel fused with strawberries and cream
A beauty beyond compare
That's infected your being inside out

Only you my queen can quench my thirst
Only your love can fill me up
Only your beauty can calm my appetite
Only you will do
Eddie Matikiti Jan 2018
What to do in hard times?
Where does help come from?
How do miracles happen?

Though he seems silent
He shall consolidate my weeping and my prayer
He shall answer swiftly and act
In a day all my troubles shall dissipate

Prayer is no stuff for feeble people
It is the language of the heavens for men
Connects earth with the power of God
It attracts the ear of the loving father

Do not cry in vain
Pray
Do not suffer in vain
Pray
Do not want in vain
Pray

What can a man do
To conquer impossibility
To alter the course of a hard life
But to leave it all to God in prayer

Pray it all into the hands of a loving God
He is the one who helps
Eddie Matikiti Oct 2015
Make me great beyond what I can imagine.
Bless me more than I deserve.
Save me from myself.
I am my greatest distractor.
I am my greatest asset!

Let your grace and love lead me.
Open my eyes and my heart.
Guide and light my path.
Draw me to my purpose.

Thank you for your mercy.
Be exalted always.
Eddie Matikiti Jul 2016
I'm learning a lot lately
I hated  problems and wished them gone...
Wished my troubles would disappear
This is not the way of life

We need problems to grow
They make us better people
They shape our best character
They teach us to pray, hope and fight
We become stronger

Life is a product of the good and bad
Next to victory there is a problem
Beauty comes with suffering
Diamonds are buried beneath the surface
Nothing good comes easy

To live is to struggle
To triumph, battles must be fought
There is no peace devoid of war
After light must come darkness
In the end we will learn to survive
We will master the seasons

Our problems shall crown us
Problems shall make us wealthy
And they will make us famous
We will be the Kings
Eddie Matikiti Mar 2017
May God grant you all the desires of your heart and enable you to live in constant  joy and peace. Amen

There's nothing more beautiful
More soothing
Than the summer rain
It washes winter's sorrows away
And calms the scorching sun

Heavenly tears of joy descending upon the earth
It reminds us of times of old
Sweet memories when children played in the rain
Singing pure  songs of innocence
Dancing  in the rain without a care
Life was wonderful and easy

Behold the light thunderstorms
The sounds of heaven speaking to men
Confirming harvests and goodness upon the land
Even the beasts of the wild rejoice
Perfect raindrops  that quench the soil
The crops celebrate and drink

Summer rain that comes in the evening
All the sweeter when it comes in the morning
Children dream  sweet dreams
Old men sleep in peace
Calm and harmony in the land

The heavenly drewl from the gods
Always in due season
The best kind of blessing
People lay awake under it's embrace
Full of thanksgiving and optimism about the day

Everyone loves the blessed rain
It gives the writer inspiration
Brings motivation to the farmer
A sign  to the religious man
Hope for the nation
Seasons and summer rain

Gentle morning whispers about
Birds singing in harmony
Light traffic sounding from afar
Mood of the day unlike any other
Wake up to a cool breeze

The tone of the day is sombre
Almost feels like Christmas morning
Temporary calm about the day
Golden silence in the air
Before the troubles of our lives make it old

It's almost a perfect day
Mellow like classic jazz
Easy in every way
Tranquility in the atmosphere
No pressure, no rush, no fuss
Melancholy of the soul on hold for a day

The day goes briskly past
The whole world quiets down
People hidden in thier cocoons
Shielded from the world's ills for a time
Far from the madding crowd

A day for meditation and sober thought
A day of peace and serenity
Sunday unlike any other day you'll find
Wish we had more Sundays in a day
Eddie Matikiti Dec 2016
In a place between dreams and reality I  hear a rhythm so perfect
A tune in sync with my spirit
Composed by my innermost being

In a place between the living and the sleeping
I hear a beautiful symphony
Playing a majestic song that proclaims me king
In that place I am a god
My wishes materialize
My days are all powerful

In that secret place between my soul and my mind
I think genius, I see the light, I am pure
I write the song that touches all hearts
It heals the world

In that amazing place
I see the beauty of the world
I see the the world dance in union
All the pain gone
All is well
Eddie Matikiti May 2016
The first day was about forgetting
Wearing new eyes
Resetting the patterns in my mind
Detoxing the inclination of my heart
No decisions made

The second day was about reminiscing
My mind noticed a void
My heart felt it too
What to do! What to do!
A decision has to be made!

The third day was peaceful
There was deep silence everywhere
All distress was calmed
And I came to realise one thing
The decision was never mine to make!
Eddie Matikiti Jun 2016
After the cold dark night
Comes a warm sunny morning
The adrenaline rush ceases
The heartbeat slows
A calm takes over

The war is over, peace takes over
After the marathon comes the rest
The old season gives way to the new
All travail comes to an end
Eddie Matikiti Aug 2016
I hate my nights
They have become so long
They feel so cold and dark
They seem like endless hard seasons

I sleep for ages
I'm trapped in these uncontrollable trances
The tedious journey from night to day
I wake feeling weary and drained

I cannot find solace in my dreams
They are corrupted with fear and gloom
I hate time and wish it paces faster
To take me to a more hopeful day

I yearn to escape my dour nights
They depress the happiness in me
Nighttime seeks to completely devour me
And release the dark ages of my soul

I want to defy the night
Fight it with good dreams and hope and light
Defeat it using joy and optimism
Surely a night as bright as day will come!
Nighttime
Eddie Matikiti May 2016
My life is like a dream
Where I am a drunken man
I see things moving about
Far from my control
My thoughts aloof within me

I try to react but it's too late
When I realise it, the chance is already gone
Forces are at play
That control my actions like a puppet

I turn left where I should turn right
I am neither going nor coming
I am a madman
I know not myself

What I want I cannot grasp
What I have, I have no need of
Driven by mischievous ideas
I long, yearn and lust
I cannot control it

I yield to fate
Time becomes my ally
One day I will be king
I will escape from this dream
And really live as I ought
Eddie Matikiti Feb 2018
I wish our love story was epic. I wish it would compel us to be better for each other. I wish it would be a timeless masterpiece that never fades away.

I wish we could transcend and make our love unconditional. I wish we had more understanding, patience and tolerance.

I wish we understood how fragile love is and sought to nurture and protect ours.
I wish our love story was epic and amazing.
Eddie Matikiti Dec 2016
A growl here another there
The whole system in anguish
Oh the noise, unbearable noise
Supplies are running low!
Feed us! Feed us!

The message is sent to the mind
The stomach feels abnormal
And the rest of the body awkward
Energy is rationed
Muscles start to weaken
The laughter and smiles cease

Hunger kills good nature
Hunger turns into annoyance
Annoyance into anger
Anger into a cry of relief
The cry brings food
Food brings calm
Calm brings sanity
Eddie Matikiti Sep 2016
Every journey begins with a step
The step is inspired by a thought
The thought by a vision
And the vision by a need

He saw her from a distance
She intrigued his attention
He had to reach out
But there was a wall
There were seas full of monsters between them

Undeterred he set out on the journey
He took the first step and said hello
She only whimpered her response in her mind
He kept moving towards her

Hundreds of days and moons later she whispered something back
It was a faint but all so heavenly whisper
He kept on moving towards her

Many perilous nights at sea
Fighting and docking emotional tides
He would almost ambush her in his dreams
But she would always escape
He kept hunting for her

The journey was long and hard
Battles were lost and won
Now she is only an arm length away
So near but yet so far
Will he ever hold her so close...
Eddie Matikiti Nov 2016
Who knows what life is
Who knows if reality exists
It could be all be one big lie
A dream within a dream

Are feelings and emotions real
Do we feel sad and happy
Or we are programmed to believe we do
Are we not machines with no body and soul

Are we not players in an eternal maze
Merely victims of a mind game
Running about to no avail
What's important is not!

Who knows if there is life beyond the grave
What if we are programs
Every aspect of our being coded
What is real is not!
Eddie Matikiti Jun 2016
They are neither here nor there
Floating in between brackets
A Just-Enough-Life
Not enough to afford diamonds and pearls

A false sense of security
Cushioned by the comfort of mediocrity
The middle of the food chain
Trapped in a cruel cycle

A powerless urban aristocracy
The aspiration of the poor people
The men and women of the white collar
