Spring is when the grass turns green
the soil soft where my body lies.
The birds awake me
and the crickets sing me to sleep.

Spring is when the grass turns green
and the bugs come out to play.
When the promise of summer lingers
   behind every morning rain.

Spring is when the grass turns green
as I clap the dirt off my hands.
And the flowers bloom before my eyes
popping up from their tiny beds.

Spring is when the grass turns green
the first fly buzz in my ear.
When the sun peeks out and bathes my skin
and my hair turns the lightest gold.

Spring is when the grass turns green
   the sky vibrant azure
the tulips crimson
   and my skin amber.

Spring is when the grass turns green
   and the butterfly unfolds.

Hush!
   Don't say a word.
Tell me a story
   with your eyes.

Milk chocolate
   speckled with gold.
Deep
       Dark
               Dilated

My dear, your smile is no disguise.
   Take me away, you say
your sadness so deeply pronounced.

And further beyond
   Passion
               Endeavor
Won't you come out to play?

Deep
       Dark
               Dilated

Bat your lashes and away
   but I see you now
and I'll see you again
   For eyes, darling, never lie.

He's a rather proud man
  Rather proud of his appearance.

Crisp suit
   Bowtie just right.

Ship-shape shined shoes.
   Lapel aligned.

Hair slicked left
Right hand tucked in his pocket.

Ray Bans perched on the bridge of his nose
   And the slightest little grin
Almost trying to say
   "I told you so."

He's a very precocious man
   A man who knows.

I think of you
the way the sun thinks of the moon.

Separate
                Opposite
But who would you be
                 without me?

Lonely
for when you go up
I go d
          o
             w
                n

When you shine bright
   you block my light
But who would you be
   without me?

Your spectrum much greater
   while mine tends to fade
But I'll see you later
when it's my turn to shine.

I think of you
the way the sun thinks of the moon.
When I'm alone
   you're waiting...

Waiting to take my place.
   For who would you be
       without me?
