A lush green forest
Filled with still silence
Broken by a crisp,clear note.
Susan Foertsch Sep 2016
I see black trees and vines
Tiny pictures of light poke through
The light is grey with a pinkish tinge
A breeze moves through and touches the wind chimes
My mind is calm.

I rode on a moonbeam to a valley of green.
I sang and I danced and I lived inbetween
the light and the darkness, the seen and not seen.
I created a world in my mind just for me.
The music and laughter would set my soul free.
The joy that I felt as I swayed to and fro,
was as real as the wind and the sand and the snow.
My head that I held in my hands every night,
was the place where I lived, my day into night.
Night into day, day into week.
Time has no place in the world that I seek.

Invisible person, I see you.
We all have a story to tell.
Even though we may not speak,
we all long to be heard.
We all long to mean something.
We all long for love.
Look at the invisible person.
Hear their story.

I'm not your first sweet lover.
I'm not the darling that you wed.
I'm not that perfect housewife.
I'm not your ecstasy in bed.
I'm the last chance motel, full of cobwebs and of pain.
I've seen a lot of sad love and I'm broken and I'm tame.
I'm nobody's dream
as I once might have been.
I'm the last chance motel.

My thoughts are no longer of love and happiness.
My thoughts are of survival and not knowing what I'm surviving.
My brain is disturbing me.
My brain ought to be disturbed.
Our behaviour is frightening.
Our behaviour is all telling.

poems today sound corny or pretentious
what is a poem without cadence or rhyme
i find rhythmic lines completely infectious
i know I'm a little behind in the times

Old souls suffer the new age.

I'm really not bad but,
if I could reach the doorknob,
I would come in and steal.

Didn't mean to make you cry girl
Didn't mean anything at all
Didn't mean to break your heart my dear
Should'a seen the writing on the wall
Once upon a time we were happy
and all seemed so assured
Now I'm sittin here by myself
Not sure what I learned
Those long warm days of summer
have givin way to the fall
Big dark clouds moving in
guess I'll get out of town

If I give my heart to you
will you take my soul
I can read the stars for you
you're future can unfold
I will play you a melody
you can sing a song
I will share my secrets
if you do me no wrong
We can watch the sunrise
fly with the birds
We can go anywhere
on this turning earth
Then the band started playing
they were playing our song
and the people came from far and wide
just to cheer us on
We sang la la la la la la la.

The bickering
The *******
The foraging
The bathing
The playing
Watching the birds.

Rein in your urges, your reactions, your humor.
Rein in your anger, your spirit, your humanity.
Rein it all in, how long til you break?
How long?
We are human.
We are individual, emotional beings.
We are nature.
We are nature.

Pull me in.
Those eyes run deep.
Like precious stones.
They've been here forever.
I can't read those eyes.
They lead me to a question.
Who are you?
