Lost Love
Sebastian Dec 2019
I knew when we met things wouldn’t end well
But I couldn’t prepare for this kind of hell
I didn’t mean to but I fell fast in love
But you’ll never have my back when push comes to shove

You caught me at my weakest, you struck like a snake
I give and give but you just take, take, take
I’m left hollow and empty, you gloat without shame
I never agreed to play your deadly game

I’ve slowly cut myself off from my family and friends
For the cruelty you bestow there’s no visible end
The loss of life you’ve caused leaves me wracked with grief
You took more than I offered, you’re a lowlife thief

You won’t let me go but I’m not trying to leave
You turn on the charm and tell me lies I believe
I love you so much but for me there is sheer hate
Why do I deserve this ill-gotten fate?

You chewed up my life, left me bleeding to death
But I’ll love you until my dying breath
I can’t resist you, you’ve stolen my heart
The only way I’ll get out is till death do us part

I’ve made excuses for you, justified your behavior
For me you hold no punches, my misery you savor
I’ve bent so much I’m irreparably broken
All I have are my words and the last word’s been spoken

Maybe those behind me will learn what not to do
How I struggle each day just to make it through
Unrequited love involving such a toxic source
Has kept me on a seemingly deadly course

— The End —
