Like a teacher marking a register,
Ticking away,
Like the devil taking life,
Ticking away,
Like a soldier praying for peace,
Ticking away,
Away, ticking away.

Every week a different lover,
A change of clothes and back under the covers,
“****”
“*****”
All these names and more,
Hurled, like knives, at my back throughout the town,
All because I refuse to be tied down.

Holding you feels so right,
A perfect harmony,
The tune of wrong and right,
A balanced karma,
An equilibrium unheard of,
And all it took was time.

Time moves on,
Time moves by,
And time moves on,
In the blink of an eye.

No warning,
No alert,
And no signal,
Time moves on; still i hurt.

The clock stops,
The clock haults,
But time moves on,
And time shows me my faults.

Time moves on,
Time moves by,
And time moves on,
In the blink of an eye.

Time moves on,
On and on.

I hope that with this book,
I have at least cried my tears,
And maybe let go of the hurt,
I built up throughout the years,
And I think I understand,
That when it’s time to go,
I’ll be not afraid of leaving,
Just wonder where I’ll go.

Today i grew older,
I am now 22,
But the sadness of my reflection,
Hurts me through and through,
I should be dancing and flying with the stars,
But the agony of my recollections,
Removes the essence of all i do.

He kissed me,
I kissed him back,
He took me to bed,
I let him take me there,
To heaven and a visit to hell,
Such a joy,
Such intensity,
Such passion,
Such love.

(Song title from The Beatles’ catalogue, by Lennon/McCartney)

Tomorrow never knows the sun,
For tomorrow never arrives,
Like watching the smoking gun,
When you are the one who’s died.

Tomorrow never knows the breeze,
For tomorrow never appears,
Like climbing the tallest trees,
When you’re older than your years.

Send me to sleep by singing,
Put dreams in my head,
Cast nightmares away,
Keep them at arms length,
Keep them from me,
Don't let them see,
Please let me be.

Fed up of spinning around,
In need of a rest,
Hide the spiders' web,
Keep at a distance,
Keep out of sight,
Don't let them bite,
Please give me tonight,
Give me,
Show me tonight.

Too much water has passed,
Under too many bridges,
To break my heart by loving you again.

Too much water has washed,
Upon too many beaches,
To hurt myself by trusting you again.

Too much water has flowed,
Into too many plug holes,
To lose my soul by seeing you again.

Too much water has passed,
Under too many bridges,
To break my heart by wanting you again.

Baby, I do love you,
I want you forever,
But you’re too young right now,
I’m too young somehow,
We both want fun,
We’ve just begun to grow.

Raise your glass to the clock,
As arm in arm we sing 'Auld Land Syne',
Welcome in the winter, summer, autumn and spring,
The seasons of this New Year,
Stay dancing in evening dresses,
Tuxedo's and top-hats,
Until the early hours of the first day of forever,
Raise your glass to the clock,
Drink down the passion of happiness.

(Song title from Blind Willie McTell’s catalogue, by McTell)

On and on and on I walk,
Down roads which have no end,
I hope to arrive at my home,
Across the street, round the bend,
But on and on and on I go,
Until my hope’s depleted,
Suffering from the travelin’ blues,
I lay my head down; defeated.

Been flying with my travel bag,
Loaded,
Crammed and packed,
Taken me to many places,
None that take me back.

Been on the road for many years,
Moving,
Rushed and shoved,
Travelled to far too many towns,
None that brought me love.

Seen a number of pretty sights,
Rivers,
Wide and long,
Aboard a ship, a plane, a train,
None have kept me strong.

Made the smile genuine,
True,
No longer blue,
Chased the grey away,
Left a lighter, brighter hue.

(Tuesday's child is full of grace.)

An elegant flower upon my table,
A tulip standing proud,
Tuesday is upon me and the world is fine,
Friends gather near me,
We talk amongst the breeze,
We laugh at the seasons that bring us to our knees.

(Song title from “The Best Little ******* In Texas” by Carol Hall)

Twenty four hours of lovin’,
Twenty four hours of passion,
In bed,
In the bath,
Morning to moon,
Moon to light,
In the bath,
In bed,
Twenty four hours of passion,
Twenty four hours of lovin’.

Undress,
Remove the bracelet,
The necklace that frames your smiling face,
Release the ribbon from your hair,
Take away the earrings,
And the make-up that hides your flair.

Make your way to my room,
And destroy the agony and gloom,
Touch my hand and stroke my arm,
Hold you close and banish any harm.

Undress,
Remove the worries,
The terrors that chain your throbbing heart,
Release the passion in your core,
Take away the pretence,
And then I'll take you to the floor.

An unrequited love is like a blossom,
Gently, slowly, softly floating from a tree,
The tree yearns and longs to hold it on its branch,
But the child who smiles is happy that it’s free.

At first it hurt to feel the pang of love that will never be,
To feel the shards of broken heart shattering in me,
A sudden realisation of having you in my life,
Takes away the desolation, the anger and the strife.

At first it hurt to know the strain of love that is forgotten,
To feel the core of my being was turning rotten,
A sudden realisation of having you as a friend,
Takes away the desperation with knowledge that I’ll mend.

An unrequited love is like a rainbow,
Flying, shining, gliding across the grey sky,
The rain comes and floods the land of all its sun,
But the child who cried is dancing in the dry.

A butterfly crept to sleep upon my fingertips,
Its tiny eyes,
Its open mind,
Drifting miles beyond this Earth.

I walked for days,
I slaved through my chores,
But still it slept,
Beauty and desire,
The flightless butterfly upon my fingertips.

The strain of holding my pose was a hard weight to bear,
But daily it got lighter as heaven slowly took him home.

A butterfly fell to death upon my fingertips,
Its lifeless wings,
The song it sings,
Reincarnation - an angel.

I miss the feel of love,
Upon my fingertips.

Tried to talk to you,
But you ignored me,
Tried to laugh with you,
You said I was boring,
You tried to use me,
I let you use me,
Tried to abuse me,
I’m upset and hurt.

Refuse to believe the truth,
Like a vial of honesty,
An itchy hand - a broken roof.

Like a tile of lead falling,
And rain crumbling,
Like the land crying for help and calling.

Wine fuelled disposition,
A craving for a pause,
A moment in my world; life's intermission.

Caught between the two worlds,
The land of sunshine and the soil of darkness,
I'm stranded in a vicious circle,
Scared and alone,
I collapse as i pick up the phone,
Too tired to push the buttons,
I'm sinking,
Being swallowed by the truth,
I want to leap from this roof,
The top of my despair,
Is knowing you are not there,
To care,
To share,
It's not fair,
My eyes drained of feeling,
My eyes drained of life,
They stare,
They glare,
They're bare.

Swallowed the tablet of joy,
I am sent,
Pushed to another place,
Of flying trees,
Visible breeze,
Red wine seas,
Swallowed the tablet of joy.

Ate the pill of doom,
I am shoved,
Thrown to a world of shadows,
Of stabbing thorns,
Attacking horns,
Darkened morns,
Ate the pill of doom.

Funny how an image moves,
Filled with bliss,
In a hallucinogenic kiss,
Turned and pulled,
Dragged underneath a vision,
Light is covered,
Heaven becomes hell,
And your life is shattered,
Broken as a shell.

Say farewell,
Say goodbye,
The end is nigh,
Don't cry,
When I die.

Standing in the silence of loneliness,
I ponder a life with others,
A day in the sun with friends,
With family and lovers,
But instead i wait patiently,
Patiently longing for an inclusion,
Far away from my...
....
...
...seclusion.

When I hear that bell,
I know that I can wake,
From my nightmares and crazed thoughts,
Of drowning in a deep blue lake,
Of sinking into mud and dirt,
Of falling of the edge,
Of baking in the burning rays,
Like wilting flowers in a *** on the ledge.

Waiting to burn my life away,
Like a winters glowing fire,
Frozen in the chill of day,

To hurt and bleed,
To fall,
To cry,
To sin and need.

Not as a possession,
Not as a prize,
But as a lover,
Here at your side.

Yes, i ant you for always,
Want you for life,
Not as your keeper,
Nor as your wife.

Don't mean to sound needy,
Pressurise you,
Don't want this to change,
Just being true.

Yes, i want you always,
Want you to know,
I'll be your safety,
And watch us grow.

Yes, i want you always,
Here in my heart,
As lovers and friends,
Finish to start.

Segments of my life,
Washed away,
Memories sent down the river,
To wait endlessly,
In a missing bay.

*

I searched and i found,
Soft amour,
The pieces of my heart and soul,
The sun shining down,
On this tyrant shore.

My tears were falling,
Formed puddles,
Made a sea of desolation,
I swam that ocean,
Spinning and muddled.

I heard my voices,
Days gone by,
I remembered them like always,
Sound of the playground,
I can only try.

Watch as the hours fly by,
While i sit and stare from my window,
The raindrops keep on falling,
Like the tears that are staining my eyes,
Creating a hundred fears.

Afraid of the riverbed,
The flowing tide of embers burning my soul,
Tantalising my evil, encouraging my sins,
Gone missing in a whirlpool,
The whirlpool of devastation that i make.

Watch out guys,
I’m coming now,
I’m ready for you,
I’m hungry now.

Watch out,
Watch out,
The pride march is all about,
Watch out,
Watch out.

Watch out guys,
I’m heading down,
I’m out on the prowl,
I’m coming down.

Watch out,
Watch out,
The pride march is all about,
Watch out,
Watch out.

My eyes waterfall as I watch you walk away,
And my cheekbones form a river as you drift away,
My lips earthquake and tremble as you fall through the cracks,
My hands are vines; grasping; my skin starts to crack,
As I watch you walk away my eyes waterfall,
As you drift away the river breaks and waterfalls.

I was drunk last night in his arms,
As we fell to sleep beneath the stars,
The gentle breeze upon my skin,
Knowing the truth,
Knowing i belong with him,
He kissed me awake as i caressed his back,
His shoulders,
All his torso writhing against mine,
Feeling fine,
Feeling him deep inside,
Filling me,
Completing me,
Living in me,
We are one,
He is i,
And i am he.

Weather the storm,
Walk through the clouds,
The darkness that you bring to me,
The thunder you ring in my ears,
Your lighting brings me fears,
Cold tears,
Weather the storm,
Walk through the clouds,
The darkness that you bring to me,
The thunder of your punishment,
Your lightning astringent,
Repent.

Don’t close that door on us,
Give us half a chance,
We can work it out I’m sure,
Don’t play our final song,
Don’t make this our last dance.

Don’t shut me out your heart,
Let me hear it beat,
We can work it out I know,
Don’t leave me in the cold,
Don’t banish all our heat.

(Wednesday's child is full of woe)

Darling I love you,
You made me smile in the rain,
I'm feeling like a newborn babe,
In a world of Wednesday pain,
The clock is ever ticking,
And the sun would never rise,
But I look in to the mirror,
And see the sadness in my eyes.

Though your arms surround me,
And kisses make me weak,
It's of the misery and pain,
That I can never speak,
So deep inside, locked in this shell,
Are the fear and the dread,
The agony of knowing nightmares,
Await me when I rest my head.

My mind is like a tree,
A Weeping Willow with many leaves,
Each one can turn,
Each one can rust,
Each one can vanish and turn to dust,
Each leaf is like a thought,
Each thought has a life,
Each life has dream,
But like this Willow I weep into a muddy stream.

A time for fun and laughter,
A time for friends and family,
Forget the ever-after,
Live for the here and now,
And forget the distant day,
Enjoy the festivities,
Take yourself outside and play.

What came first?
The chicken or the egg?
For a chicken surely requires an egg to be,
But without a chicken an egg can't be laid,
What a predicament!
Hard to understand,
That a chicken could walk this land,
Without an egg, yet it stands.

What came first?
Reason or logic?
For there to be a reason we need logic behind it,
But without reason we cannot logically think,
What a situation!
Hard to believe,
That reason could be conceived,
Without logic to retrieve.

Kept away all the tension,

I looked at him from across the room,
His eyes smiled,

Scared by my mind,
What is this feeling of utter bliss?
True hearts are blind.

When a lover dies the pain is hard to live with,
An escape is what you need,
Something to relieve the tension,
A momentary relief,
So you take a pill,
Smoke a joint,
Drink a pint or twelve,
Cut your arm,
Break a windowpane,
Anything to hide the shame.

The shame I feel,
I feel ashamed that my strength failed,
I couldn't pull you through,
And in the darkness where you lay,
Forgiveness from you I pray.

The stars twinkle as always,
The sun sparkles as always,
The Earth revolves as always,
My heart no longer feels,
My heart no longer feels,
It's turned cold.

Find a message of love,
Write it down,
Send it to me with haste,
So in reply I may say unto you...I love you.
